Problem with power connections
i want to connect my magnetic hotspot with my indium farm the hotspot is 1000 units away
but everytime i place a cable it becomes red or disappears after the 2. placement point
it disappears not completely, only if i walk out of a specific area arround it.
i tried it for almost 3 hours now but it doenst work :angry_pebble:
i also tried restarting the game and my pc incase its just buggy
how can i connect it properly?

um, it may need to be daisy chained through power producers, meaning you might have to run solar panels out to it. to extend the range of the base.

a file verification might help, but im still rather new to no mans sky.

Have you tried the base perimeter extension trick? At 1000 U you would be pushing the limit of this, but may still be possible (I have read that the max extension is ~1100 U). If you have already done so, you would still need a mod to lengthen power/pipelines if you don't want multiple segments.

here is a mod that he seems to be mentioning above, this appears to be part of a more complex mod, but there may be one that allows you to just modify the cable lenghts.

^ Yep. That one. Haven't used it in awhile, but looks like it's been updated.

when i deploy long wiring or piping, i just run it to the max length it can be, place the end, and click on it to start another segment... no need for any cuboids, batteries, or solar panels at all... i do, however, generally place a flag near this connection so i can find it again if i need to connect something else to it at that point... at least with the wiring... piping is a little more problematic...

Extending a base also requires reloading last save, to update the base limits. I tend to temporarily place batteries along the path that I'm trying to extend. But sometimes at a limit around 1K I am unable to later add another edit at that far end of the base.

A better method is to move the base. Or even find the middle of your intended farm and power source, then place your base there. Or just stop earning cash because there's only so much worth earning.

Does this work to extend the buildable area for the base? The build menu disappears when >300u. I place a light box and I get another 50u. So on and so forth up to around 1000u. Your saying we just have to plop down the wire on bare ground to extend a buildable corridor to the destination?

no... if i have to extend my base boundaries, i do that by placing other things... eg: cuboid room, floor tiles, flags, etc...

when i run wires or pipes and the distance is longer than the allowed segment length, yes, i do just place the intermediate end on the ground and attach the next segment to it...

in some cases, i place cuboid rooms about 200u apart to extend my base boundaries and then i run my pipes over the tops of them... it really depends on the aesthetic and how i feel... sometimes i also run the wires on top beside the pipes instead of connecting them to the cuboid... especially if i don't want to power the cuboid and lose that bit of power for the rest of my station... IIRC, cuboid rooms take 1u of power for the plain ones and i think 5u of power for the glass ones...

Meh! Even when you play "Creative" and you set your base to powered you have stuff, lights that doesn't work. You still have to power your short range teleport, it's a mess
I made a walkway where half of the lights work and the other doesn't and then the round base house at the end of it has it's blue circle at the bottom

I have experience with disappearing cables, too. It happens more often if I start from the hotspot. If I start from the base it happens much less, although still. I had multiple hotspots around my base 800u this way, 900u that way, and I was having helluva hard time when I built 'posts' on the way to the hotspot and cables on the way back. I needed to return and start from base side and eventually it worked. They still disappear even now, although I know they work despite not being visible. I have base complexity setting maxed, doesn't help.
