A better method is to move the base. Or even find the middle of your intended farm and power source, then place your base there. Or just stop earning cash because there's only so much worth earning.
Does this work to extend the buildable area for the base? The build menu disappears when >300u. I place a light box and I get another 50u. So on and so forth up to around 1000u. Your saying we just have to plop down the wire on bare ground to extend a buildable corridor to the destination?
when i run wires or pipes and the distance is longer than the allowed segment length, yes, i do just place the intermediate end on the ground and attach the next segment to it...
in some cases, i place cuboid rooms about 200u apart to extend my base boundaries and then i run my pipes over the tops of them... it really depends on the aesthetic and how i feel... sometimes i also run the wires on top beside the pipes instead of connecting them to the cuboid... especially if i don't want to power the cuboid and lose that bit of power for the rest of my station... IIRC, cuboid rooms take 1u of power for the plain ones and i think 5u of power for the glass ones...
I made a walkway where half of the lights work and the other doesn't and then the round base house at the end of it has it's blue circle at the bottom
