A trace of metal Quest Bug
Im on the trace of metal quest and i have progressed to the point where you need to find a Pristine Walker Brain for the minotaur mech. i went to the location i was given and interacted with a temple. for a stupid reason i left the area for another poi nearby when i tried to go back the marker was gone and i could not find the walker etc. any way to reset the quest ?

I have a similar bug in this quest, where the Walkers aren't providing the required parts to progress.

Last attempt was to hunt down a random Sentinel and shoot until 5 stars, continuing until I was bored. Previously this would at least provide a Walker Brain, but now I'm only getting useless cogs (whatever they were). I was hoping the RNG might spew out some legs lol.

It's very frustrating having the Minotaur menu popup as default with the missing part(s) required.
hm, ok, that's bad because you guys cannot obtain the pristine brain anymore, i guess it was/is the pristine brain you have to get
sooo, to progress the quest i would help myself with the save game editor by goatfungus (search the net, get it from github)

add - product - component - pristine brain
it should now be possible to hand over the pristine brain
(never tested, because my quests do not bug out since a long time, - but give it a try)

As far as I know, it doesn't have to be in the location given by the game.

It was like that with me and I got my pristine brain in another way... then I went to the place given by the game and, when I arrived, he already recognized the pristine with me and gave this part of the quest as done.

All you have to do is defeat a walker (that huge biped, not the new one that appeared recently).

The trick here is that to get the Pristine Brain, AFTER you've defeated the big one, you can't use your multitool but instead approach the walker's remains and press "e" (on PC's) or the equivalent on PS etc. , and you will have a Pristine Walker, contrary to what Ǥɾᴧᴤʆᴧᵯᴧ said. I got another pristine brain, after doing this quest, by accident (and lost the walker brain).

Attention Xammond: you did everything right BUT used the multitool at the end and got a walker brain. If, on the other hand, you use the "e" or what you press to pick things up (if you're using a PS) you'll have what you're looking for.

Interesting, I did find a Walker Brain just now. It was like any other barrel extraction.

Confusing reading about the so called "Pristine Brain" as I am still seeking the ummmm, oh these names, ....um Something Frame Engine? That just doesn't exists! I've taken out a planet's worth of metal as far as Sentinels are concerned. It actually makes me bored of the game, rather than progressing with what remains.
Hardframe Engine - that thing in obtainable from the Minotaur like sentinels

Yes Hardframe Engine, but I only get Quad Servos from Sentinel Minotaurs. It looks like a bug to me. And one of my bases now looks like the moon!

edit: _FATVENDETTA_'s suggestion could be it where I must press "E" after defeating a Minotaur to magically extract the frame instead of a QS?

Trick with all that 'does not exist' is to stop shooting sentinel drops and starting to pick them up by interaction. One exception is the old, big walker, which can be first interacted with and shot afterwards for two brains off one walker.

Yea the game has you thinking to pick them up before the game hits some limit and they begin to vanish. I've shot way more Sentinels than picked up / destroyed barrels.

Guess they won't "time-out" as they become static objects quick, but if they stayed dynamic then the game wouldn't quite handle anything like 100 of them with domestic physics engines.
tbh idk how i got the brain buuut, I usually shoot at sentinels and don't rummage around in their junk :) but [e] seem to be the trick

Lol GrA... I see so much potential in these new Sentinels. My first impression was along the lines of "oh, not too shabby for a first effort... this will get good in a few updates". For sure they are loaded with erm junk haha, it would be great to have a library of a thousand parts which we could knock up some custom stuff with.

I don't know if you've noticed that all those 'barrels' tend to tumble down or land on top of buildings and are hard to spot after a heated fight. With new sentinels making holes in the ground - even more so. They do, however, appear on your compass as cogs - icon identical to Damaged Machinery. You have to be fairly close, under 50 units I believe, for them to appear on the compass. I tend to walk around looking at the compass after a fight and pick them up with 'E'.

Yea I have a "Supreme" scanner. I stand on roof and shoot them... clearly I had no idea that you could even pick them up, the game never implied that at all. Guess I will go back in then, looks like the OP and myself have required answer, thanks all.
