questions about the overseer
so i have several bases now, all of which are very basic, im supposed to hire an overseer, who if i understand correctly will begin unlocking other staff members for me to find. my question with this is. Do the overseers do anything special or do the staff do anything special for building in the base they are placed in?

if so, can i hire multiple overseers for multiple bases? Or is it just to get the missions and such unlocked.

you can have one overseer per save, period... they are mainly there to help you in base building and getting the missions to further building and advancement...

okay so basically they just give blueprints and mishs... got it. was just trying to figure out the best place to station them.

depending on my base build form, sometimes i just build them a separate room to be in... i've been known to dig out a small cave area in the side of a mountain for them, too... in one of my bases, i put them all in the basement under the main room and living quarters... one of my first bases just had them outside... it doesn't really matter where they are placed, AFAICS...

now, if you have two or more bases and you build another overseer terminal, the existing overseer will move to the new terminal... same for each of the others, too... you can also place most of them in your freighter base but i've not tried that... i think the exocraft guy is the only one that cannot be in the freighter base...

Eventually, when you build a nice freighter interior, it's sometimes easier to have them stationed there instead. This way they are available anywhere you can summon your freighter. Also makes the freighter seem more lived-in, since you actually have people on board.

Do the other stations (Science, Weapon etc.) have any use other than the questline?

The main purpose of the Techs is to drive the tutorial missions so you learn the basics. Once those are done, the Techs will provide a minor reward for a minor task. The only two worth doing if you are onsite are:

The Science Tech will provide you some nanites for exploration data every 24 hours.
The Agri Tech will provide you a small gift for a specific amount of a crop. If you are already growing and storing it, it takes about a minute to get it out and give to the Tech.

The other Techs have more complicated and stupid quests that don't really seem worth doing after you do it once. You will have to decide on that for yourself.

Be aware that the tutorial mission which becomes the Artemis missions and the Atlas Path mission only work if you have a land base. They will not work if you have your main base and tech stations on a freighter.

Keep mine all on my frieghter except the exocraft guy. But whatever is more convenient to you. Once you complete the base building story line all they and the base computer did was offer sidestories with random rewards. I'm honestly not even sure if they do that anymore.

In my regular save I do the base computer missions from time to time, seems I can come across newer more interesting planets that way than plain system hopping.
