Taking a photo of a landscape on a planet DOES NOT work. At all. Any photo mission saying "Go to this galaxy and find the planet and take a landscape picture." Does NOT work. Please provide me a video link if possible of someone doing this damn mission.

Explorers guild missions are GARBAGE. Scan 12 fauna, scan 10 flora, scan 7 minerals, WHY is this a thing? It takes easily 20-45 mins to do and the rewards are absolutely not worth it compared to the cull creatures rewards.

Turning in multiple missions sometimes doesn't work, it will bug out when you try to turn one in and the rest will dissapear, I am guessing this is due to them also all be turned in automatically? I sometimes don't get the reward which makes doing the current expedition an absolute annoyance.

I think it is an actual waypoint which you would need to seek, these days. The galaxy map usually shows a nearby system that hasn't been visited yet in this case, else it (a mission) will be remarked in the Teleporter next to a SS listing.

For the photo missions, it's kind of slow. As you said, you need to go to a certain system, then find the specified planet (volcanic, strange, etc), land there, and then... WAIT.

Once you land, the mission details have to change (just wait for the text on the left to clear), then you can take the picture. After that, assuming the game updated the mission flags (hence why you should wait for the text to clear), it should update again for a "return to the mission handler" portion.

That doesnt work, I tried to land on every planet in the system and nothing happens. I also tried taking pictures after landing. No update, no change. Can you provide a video of you doing this mission? I cant find a single one of anyone doing any landscape missions like this.

Has the game deselected the mission for you, perhaps? I've completed everything yet the game keeps on selecting Atlas Path (completed repeatedly) for me, it shouldn't even be listed, and certainly not selected.

I can't provide a video, but I have recently done this and sure it was quirky like you say.

I don't like these photo missions because you have to be at the specific planet type it requires. Sometimes there's no icon on the target planet which makes it a guessing game.

It works but it is kind of a dull mission unless you really want the reward.

It will tell you what system you need to go to and the planet type. I think in a few instances it is in the same system, but seems like I usually have to warp to a new system.

Once you are in the right system, you have to just scan the planets and find the one that seems like it fits the criteria. Once you are in the atmosphere it will say "Target Planet Reached". If not, you picked wrong and need to try again.

Then it is just landing and taking a shot. You do sometimes have to wait a bit for it to register. I will take shots in a couple of directions because (for whatever reason) the first one will not take.

Unless you REALLY want the reward or you are doing it for rep with a faction, I would recommend not doing those.

Sometimes, also, you have to watch the wording of the mission description. One photo mission, the customer had wanted an 'inverse' (don't remember the wording) photo of a desert world. Landed on a desert world, took photo. Didn't work. Looked back at the description. Went to the filters and selected the inverse filter, where black becomes light and white becomes black. Took the photo - and got "Return to Mission Agent".

I only do those missions to fulfill a much needed requirement or if the payment is what I need at the time.

Just as AD said above ^^^ you have to read the description carefully. Most are just take a landscape photo but others are specific.

With the photo mission selected (active one) as you approach the “correct” planet you’ll see a “Target Planet” with a camera icon displayed. If you don’t see this then this is not the planet for your mission.

I always (95/100 times) have to take 2 photos. The mission will complete after the 2nd photo. I’ve completed no less than 50 of these missions in the past few months.

The rewards on those don't justify the time investment. You can still stack kill creature, kill predator, and kill sentinel missions so those are the only ones I accept these days as they can be done on any planet that has non-flying creatures/sentinels.

It works, but you need t make sure the mission is active, land on the specified planet, WAIT for the timer to update, then take the photo,,, Works better with you in it.

The hints will tell you when you have satisfied each step.

I had one of those. The mission said go and photograph a swamp planet or something. I did that, but the mission wouldn't complete. Later, I noticed that the text in the log said take TWO photos.

I stack specific mission types: Mostly kill creature, kill predator, feed creature and sentinel missions. Once I have a dozen or so I will complete them all at once and turn them all in at once.

This process is a little tedious. I can select two in quick succession and turn them in, but then have to wait until something in the background catches up. Then I can select two more. it's the same on PC and Xbox. There is also an odd occurrence, that each time I move slowly back behind the mission agent. One time I was almost completely behind the agents cube.

On Expedition 5 I did stumble on scanning mineral and flora mission can also be stacked and completed at the same time. However there is a trick to it. The one you actually go to the identified planet has to require scanning more than those you didn't complete. I had two scan mineral missions I forgot about. I found one requiring scanning 8 minerals with a good payout in nanites, so I completed it right away. When I went back to turn it in the other two were also complete. I have tested this on one of my normal saves. I will stack a few scan 6 or less missions and when I find a scan 8 I will complete them all. It has worked every time.

The only time I bother with Explorer guild missions is when the expedition has a requirement to build Explorer guild standing. And I use the same method as U235 by stacking them. It works good enough. Interesting that we never see a Mercenary guild milestone. Its almost as if the devs know these missions are neglected and want to make sure we try them. Isn't this great? hint, hint.

I was able to finally finish the expedition and I just abandoned the missions that didnt work and kept teleporting until I got the cull creatures mission or get minerals mission. However, I want to notate that I never found a fix for the issues. Ive sent this to the NMS team.
