Are all scrap dealers the same? (require egg)

I wanted to initiate the Living Ship mission by apparently buying some golden egg from a scrap dealer. I have a few grand of Tainted Metal but I haven't spent any yet due to nothing
for sale looks like it will do anything.

Does the scrap dealer sell anything that will start some mission any more? Should I perhaps backup my save and just try everything... oh wait, there isn't that much to try so far as all dealers sell the same stuff (as mentioned), apparently.

3200 quicksilver for the egg.

Read a guide, there's a crucial step very close to the end, when you're about to go through the portal. If you make a save, you can "reroll" the ship you get, if you don't like the looks or color of it. If you don't make a save... you're stuck with whatever it gives you. I had to eventually get a second egg to find a ship I really really really like the look of (I kept both ships).

Oh wow, I had stopped looking at QS trader. Because the main game gave me almost enough to buy interesting stuff but it never gave me much more, I've just saved on to it and done everything.

So I need to go online, or is there another way to acquire a little more QS? Perhaps I have enough for an egg, this is excellent news as I thought for a moment that I somehow missed the opportunity during the Living Ship update.

I just finished the LS quest on one save and started another. The hardest part for me was when the monolith is on a aggressive sentinel planet. Do I fight them to disable them planet wide, or just gather what is needed on another planet. I've gone both ways.

You have to be online to summon the anomaly?

Once-daily Nexus missions will pay 250 Quicksilver each. And, the weekend mission which just began an hour ago pays 1200 Quicksilver. Or you might try simply asking while you're in the Anomaly if anyone has a Void Egg. Sometimes players just give them away. : )

You have to have the Glyphs to open any portal before you can finish the Living Ship. The Glyphs you can get by talking to the other Travelers at Space stations. I mean talk to them once and then restart the conversation again and... If you have all the necessary Glyphs... I trust you will figure it out now that you have all the clues to help you.

So I have 750 QS, and 3200 are required for a Void Egg.

I don't see any QS missions on the Nexus, @Amber, it must surely be because I play offline. That 1200 one sounds what I'm looking for as well.

Oh that seems different than when I last tried a couple of years ago.

I just uploaded a base, but I went back offline immediately. I had half of a thought of visiting The Anomaly to look for the missing mission, but didn't fancy the spamming risk.

I only ever play in offline mode and have completed the living ship quest in normal, survival and permadeath saves.

It can take a while to collect the quicksilver though, as mentioned above by AmberAnvil, you should get a 250 QS mission each day and a 1200 one each weekend. If you can't play every day the daily missions stack for up to three days.

I thjnk I got some QS from talking to Nada/Polo from the main questline, but only about 1000 in total.

I checked the base for any Message Modules. I think this somehow activated two 250QS missions to become available in TA. So I'm up to 1250 now, and hopefully the weekend mission will appear if I try again later.

One of the missions ended up where I had to dig a hole underwater to reach some Hardel Cores. That was an interesting face-off in a narrow blocked cave, somehow with two angry octopii (sp?) which both ended up trapped on the wrong side of a collision mesh and couldn't be "freed".

Also thanks for the friend request(s). Unfortunately I don't take them on this account since a lunatic was allowed by Steam to do not so wonderful things for nine months (until mods' boss told them to).
