A-Class Hyperdrive Efficiency only reaches 4.0. S-Class reaches 8.0 (twice as far per tank).
A-Class Hyperdrive bonus tops at 160% S-Class bonus tops at 180%.
In short, S-Class offers more storage, range, efficiency. That's about it. : )
That being said, I never go looking for an S-Class. If you play long enough, the game will toss a couple of S-Class your way eventually. Nice surprise when it does!
This is a fair comment. :D
I'm just not a fan of having to entirely re-design and build the ships interior each time I upgrade. Yes, I can get all the resources back, but I'm going to have to place everything all over again. I don't mind doing that with bases as I get to keep my old ones, but the thought of having to go over it all again every time I want to upgrade... eeehhh.
I jumped to the center of Euclid and then again to the center of Hilbert with an A-Class freighter this game before I eventually stumbled on an S-Class in Calypso.
For example I just jump in my explorer and then drag my S Class freighter along.
I only mention this because I really don't think jump distance is a huge deal in a freighter. The biggest things I look for are tech space (especially for frigate upgrades) and storage.
The trip to the centre, regardless of your ship/freighter, takes a few minutes if you use a portal.
I guess it's like driving to a vacation destination instead of taking an airline.
I'm in no hurry, I enjoy the drive. : )
I was looking for these stats yesterday. where did you find this?
even more reason to keep reloading my current auto-save to get S-class.
Am I doing something wrong or has the game changed these behaviors?
Also, when I eventually stumble onto an S class... (1) Are there some S-class ships I should NOT buy? (2) Is the safe freighter change procedure as simple as summoning mine, disassembling everything, buying the new one, reassembling. Or are there additional steps to follow?
