Milestone 2 -- Refuse multi-tool reward

I've been a little overzealous in procuring multi-tools, so by the time I finished Phase 2 I already have three multi-tools and ALL of them are superior (class S, A, A) to the reward it gives, the Surge of Storms B56-K1-6 (class B). I have no desire to take the Surge of Storms and want to refuse it.

However, the issue is that without taking this reward, it appears that the game would not show my status as having collected the Phase 2 reward, nor will it give me the other reward (the Pioneer Expedition Flag).

Is there anyway that I can overcome or bypass this issue?

Trade in or exchange one of your MTs - not what you want, but NMS is a bit stubborn like that. (I will have the same problem)

I've had the same problem but I had to trade one in and get another to get the reward!

if you already have an S and an A class why not just trade the 3rd A class in ?

Stuck not being able to redeem Phase 2 due to having 3 multi tools already :/

I did the same thing, refused the offer of the free MT. I've tried everything and still cannot resolve the issue. I even went as far as using a save editor to delete two MT's with disastrous results. Was able to keep my head though and at least I fixed that problem.
But deleting MT's does not fix my issue.

Equip the multitool you want to get rid of, redeem expedition reward, trade equipped multitool for surge of storms.

I always take a screenshot of where I find ships, multitools and fauna. That way I can always go back if I want to and get it again.
