A strange bug with textures of ships and creatures

Textures just missing. Restarting the game and any option in settings don't help much
<Problem solved down below but not for amd users>

* At the bottom you see a setting called 'Shader Pre-Caching'. Click it
* Uncheck 'Enable Shader Pre-Caching'
* Close the Steam Client and start NMS

If this solved the issue, you should be able to turn on/check Shader Pre-Caching again in the Steam Client Settings.

I am also having this issue. In my case exiting the game and trying to load it again fixes it but not always, sometimes I have to restart the game twice.

EDIT: In my case, soon after I chose save game to load, the screen flashes few times and then galaxy loading screen appears normally, but that screen flashes indicate that the textures will become broken after the save game loads.

Could be a GPU Driver issue, or Hardware dying.
Musashi Apr 7, 2021 @ 12:44am
Either your GPU Driver is not the latest , or (if it is the latest) you need to rollback to a previous version

No it aint a gpu driver issue this time. It's mismatch between game engine and likely AMD drivers. Cuz many amd users are reporting things like this recently. Me included. Any game object that is an entity and not part of geo textures - be that character, craft, tool, plant or stone - has funky texture problems. Some say switching to ultra settings helps for a boot or two, but not completely.

I fixed it. Deleted everything in Graphics folder except HDMR then shadercache. Then I switched from FXAA to TXAA and it just worked fine after quick restart of the game

Also I have asus nvidia card, so I can't say that my method would work for amd users, but try it

This happens to me when I open the Steam Overlay while the game is loading. Just let the game load, then tab out or do other things.

Nah, I played with this glitch the whole day until I was done with it

I have the same problem when I start the game for the first time. I see some flickering before the starfield loading animation. Then the textures are messed up. If I completely close the game (quit to desktop) and start it again, everything is fine again...
edit: exactly what Lightning described...

Yeah, screen flashing, textures looks like glitchy mess and nothing helps no matter what i do inside the game. I have AMD card but i dunno how to fix mismatches by myself, 'cause i'm a noob in that. Can somebody give instructions or something when issue will be fixed? Else i may just do something wrong and ruin game completely.. i don't want this to happen

I have this happen on my spare rig sometimes.. when it happens I put the game in offline then summon the anomaly park in there then reload. That always solves it for me.

About ' Uncheck 'Enable Shader Pre-Caching'' +++++
LaeLena Apr 7, 2021 @ 3:56am
Bought the game on Sunday, everything was fine when I played last night and then today I have these weird textures basically everywhere. Another thing I noticed about my gaming session today was that when I was loading my save the screen would flash between black and purple before the actual loading screen showed up.
EXONIX Apr 7, 2021 @ 8:43am
Yes, I've experienced the flashing between black and purple too. If you are not an amd user, try something above:fabbit:
