Why do 10 freighters have to warp out a hyperspace whenever I exit a planet's atmosphere?
For some reason the developers decided to make the experience feel like getting passed by a semi trailer truck going 110 mph.

I don't think OP is complaining that there are too many freighters. But they could spawn 5-10x farther away from your ship, so space doesn't feel like an interstate highway that runs through the downtown of a major metropolis.

But yes, if the problem were addressed badly, the game could end up being the dystopian picture you paint here.

To make it easy to find frigate data

Amen to the OP. "The Big Empty" is what space should be. This game thinks space is cram-packed with rocks and traffic. Sometimes you can't even find the sun because you are surrounded by 3 or 4 planets blocking out huge chunks of the sky. Freighters wait till you are someplace then choose that spot as the only place they need to be. "Space needs to be crowded" is a total BS design choice. I get that having things unrealistically close can improve game play, but Hello takes it waaaaay too far.

Empty space is boring space, might as well play ED at that point. I like NMS, it's a game, not a simulator for NASA.

Yes it is a game, but it is a space game. How do you know you've left the rarefied air of an atmosphere and entered space in NMS? Because you suddenly start bumping into stuff. Laughable, really. It defies the very concept of the word "space." Space is called "space" for a reason. I like the game, too. But there is still room for improvement.

I think it's HG working on improving the snapping of building pieces, and the crashing due to too many ships/players in the nexus when you enter the nexus to turn in a mission that you cannot save ahead of time because you are on a mission and other issues, etc. So whenever you see all those freighters and frigates load in on top of you next time, know that that is HG working hard to fix other things, like all those asteroids every ten feet throughout the entire universe, those kinds of things.

We only know one galaxy, The Milky Way. There could be hundreds or millions of NMS style galaxies that are tough to navigate.

There's an estimated 2 trillion galaxies. NMS has 255. It stands to reason that the 255 in NMS would have similar characteristics, lots of asteroids for example.

An eloquent, logical argument for embracing fantasy.

yea i hate how many asteroids there are...its just as dense as the rings of a planet, which irl wouldn't even be that compact. I get running out of tritium in the middle of nowhere would suck but lessen the density a little so i'm not constantly flying straight trough asteroids in pulse

it's one of those things where you won't miss them until you
A) shopping for that special looking freighter to buy.
B) want to pirate some freighters for salvage frigate modules (without losing standing) to pimp out your freighter
c) shopping for frigates to expand your fleet
...then you'd be like....why HG? why can't i find enough freighters/frigates without having to warp everywhere?

Wym without losing standing?

When I wanted to get those I just picked a race to descriminate against, the gek, so that I could still trade with the other two without any issue.

(yes ik the gek are the trading race so it doesnt make sense but the robots are cool and i dont want to fight the warrior race lol)

you don't lose standing for attacking the freighters only the smaller ships or cargo pods so the more freighters in a system the more chances to get salvage frigate modules and make a clean getaway... no fuss, no muss

It isn't space, it's a simulation; whoever trained the ATLAS AI obviously made it watch bad science fictions movies from the late 20th century. ATLAS then crossed that with any movie set in LA traffic, and you have your explanation.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

How do you get the frigate modules without attacking the cargo pods that contain the frigate modules?
