Easiest way to find a portal?
I tried buying maps to ancient sites but no luck, I never receive any options other than to get language help or buried artifacts.

Is there an easier / more reliable way to find a portal? (I cannot do Atlas path... as I am in expeditions)

I keep a few of each relic in my ship's storage. I've been woking on building a portal base in each galaxy. My process is simple and quick.

Select a Planet, land, summon the freighter, summon the roamer, hop in the roamer and scan for a monolith, hop out of the roamer, into the ship and fly to the monolith. Takes all of 5 minutes to find the portal. On the rare occasion the roamer doesn't find a monolith, move to the other side of the planet and scan again.

If you are playing Expeditions, there is one at the final phase site. That would be the easiest since it is a known location in the mission.

To find a Monolith, simply go to the cartographer NPC on any space station and buy the purple planetary charts that will reveal those types of buildings.

You also need to have at least one of the specific relics for each race to input into the Monolith when you select the option to locate a portal for you. So for example, if you’re in a Gek system, make sure you have one Gek relic.

I believe theres a expeditions mission where you get all the portal glyphs too or they're already unlocked or something.

Also, Said Monolith needs to be one with the Stairs to go up to Interact with it, and Interact TWICE to get the Portal Location...

Quickest way is to use the roamer scanner.

Ty for the various ideas.

- I am in Expeditions, and I do have a portal base in Euclid. I already hopped over to Eisentam through a base teleport from the anomaly and I am now trying to find a portal there.

- I tried flying low and using the ship scanner. Found plenty of ancient buildings but none gave me the option or the second interaction.

- I bought those maps and found buildings but again nothing that would let me interact a 2nd time.

- I have a stack of each type of relic in storage but I did not have then in my ready inventory while trying.

- I have all of the glyphs.

So... it sounds like I need to buy a few more purple maps from the cartographer, grab a relic of each type from storage, ... and go hunting again.

Vehicle scanners can find the exact type you want; I forget if it's Minotaur or standard scanners.

This is the way^

I'm in galaxy #89. I build a base at a portal in each Lush galaxy and then a quick base 5 galaxies after that, unless I find a good crashed ship, then I build a base there as well.

I know this is a bit of a sidetrack, but why a crashed ship? And do you mean a crashed freighter or something like a crashed S-class that can be scrapped over and over?

I'm looking for crashed starships. I build a base there and leave the ship alone. My best find so far is the squid:

There is two methods...

Method 1: complete all 5 Rendezvous points on the expedition. The last one is of particular issue.

Method 2: Get an "Ancient artifact" starchart from the cartographer on the space station. You are wanting to find a Monolith. The Monoliths have a function to find near by Portals.

I'm confuzzled. You're looking for crashed star ships so you can leave the ship alone?

I've been having some hard times finding portals as well, so I thank the people that left some more good tips that I didn't know of before. :)

With the environmental nerfs to exocraft upon the release of the minotaur. The primary exocraft to invest in are the roamer(scanner for Portals), minotaur(gathering on hazardous planets and scanning for distress signals), and nautilon(for scanning water planets for ships/ruins/submerged buildings).

I would add scanning for Drop Pods as well. If I remember correctly, the roamer and minotaur can also scan for these. Once I had this capability I spent a few hours doing nothing but drop pod scanning until my exosuit was maxed in storage, tech and cargo slots.
