NPCs vanish when I return from quests
Am iI missing something? Every time I get a quest from an NPC near a table, the NPC is gone when I return with a holo-globe over the table that I can't interract with, but the qust marker points right to it.

Am I supposed to go hunt the NPC down someplace that I don't get any directions to or is this just a bug?

Yeah, I've had that happen several times as well. Normally I will relocate the signal to a new area if you click on the mission again. At least it did for me. Sometimes they give you the option to restart it.

I had something similar, but it seems to be directing me to a new location...but no NPC at that location.

It was suppose to be fixed in experimental but still happens for me.

I've still had this happen to me a lot, it's definitely still bugged. Very frustrating.

I currently have 5 missions in this "missing NPC" state where I can't report that it's completed. It only happens as you described where you hafta go back to the base and meet the original NPC that requested the mission. I figured he may have croaked (or is perpetually in the head) because after several returns to the base, the NPC is always absent.

Only on 1 of the missions did it eventually redirect me to a comm point on another larger base. The rest of them are still in limbo and I'm just ignoring them until they either disappear or fix themselves.

It is still happening. However, there's a workaround. When you complete the task and notice that the return icon is in an unexpected location (e.g., you're on planet HoleInTheWall where you got the tasking from a Gek at an outpost but the return location is far off on planet Dustbin) try doing a save and reload. So far, that's worked every time for me.

From what I have read, this appears to have been a long standing issue. I bought the game a few days prior to the Visions update, and had roughly 10 missions that I could not turn in due to not finding an NPC at turn in location. So I decided to conduct a little "test", found a planet based NPC with a quest, and placed a Beacon, when I took the quest, I would place a beacon outside the building of said NPC. Upon completion of the given quest, it would then direct me to a different planet or completely different location on original planet, without any type of NPC present, usually just a floating indicator over the floor behind a Terminal Station, non-corrupted. I would then return to the beacon location and at times an NPC would be there, and other times not. Could not turn in the quest to this NPC. whether quest was active or not.

Would do the whole suggested, Save, quit, reload, no joy. File Integraty check, no bad files found. Find a nearby Trading Station, only ONCE did I find an NPC that let me turn in the quest, however that was for an older outstanding quest in a DIFFERENT Galaxy, and was NOT the quest I had active either. I would even try to find minor settlements, as was once suggest in a much older post, and still no Joy.

Ended up quiting the quests, and no longer bother with doing/accepting ANY planet based NPC quests.

As a note, after the Visions update, I created a new game, and quickly found a planet based NPC quest, since I could not build a beacon as of yet, I placed a signal booster outside the building and noted the planet I was on. Upon completion, I was sent to a different planet to turn in the quest, again the floating icon above the center floor piece behind the non-corrupted Terminal. Spent about 10 minutes looking for the signal booster I placed on the original quest planet.

The only thing that I believe could maybe be causing this issue, is something happens to "files' when in multiplayer, as a Steam friend and I both started this game together. As a note the post Visions new game was set to not allow anyone to join, yet the possible "core files" could already be "corrupted" so to speak? Just a guess.

One thing that might be contributing is an associated glitch with setting a marker ("E" on PC) on a point of interest. I've noticed that if I set one on, say, a buried technology gizmo and then dig up the gizmo the marker disappears BUT I'll continue to get ghost versions of the marker in random places while flying over the planet.

So possibly make extra sure that you don't have any "E" points of interest highlighted before interacting with the NPC and also that any you may set afterwards are reset. Just set a custom POI on the ground and walk over it to clear it. Might help; don't know. It is an annoying glitch!

Had this happen only once. But I stopped taking missions from random NPC'S after that

Wyzer, I'm in SP mode and it happens. So, it appears to be an "equal opportunity bug" that plagues all player types. I'm going to stop taking those kind of missions just so I don't clutter up the Log with more of them.
