select that mission and again and it will display the way point icon. You do not actually need the sweep to get to it.
But you do have to go to the way points.
I just completed the entire expedition today, so the last couple places i kind of just did not bother with the sweep thing until i was right on top of the way point.
I only have had that issue with the sweep being too weak on one thing and I wasted about an hour trekking the planet too, then realized it was because what i needed was not on the planet.
It does not help that the missions selected like to change due to I have no idea what, i had to keep reselecting a few of them because it would simply choose the wrong missions after a while.
So no, they can be completed.
So no they can NOT be completed.
Summary: target sweep occassionally sweeps for different target, possibly non-existent on current planet (for me it existed). And not even needed anymore, too.
So as I said I needed to do bones and the last milestone of phase 5 where - 3 vile spawn. So I teleported to my base at starter planet, where both are present. I first selected vile spawn mission and target sweep was sweepint allright, although I had to go with my exocraft for quite some thousand units to meet first of them. I rememer building base 500u near one of the burrows, so why? Probably as others have said - they spawn in not entirely fixed places or I just had to wait a while, like I need to wait for animals to spawn.
Anyway, I picked up the 3 vile spawns, I picked up the reward and switched mission to bones - Their Lost Children. As you can see on my first screenshot, it says on the left of the target sweep the mission title, but it tracks BURROWS! WFT?!?
It didn't want to stop tracking burrows and there were no bones nearby, so I reloaded the game. At this point target sweep forgot about the burrows and was back on bones (2nd screen), although there were none near me. Well, I got 7 so I guess the remaining 9 will be no problem, too.

Also, again, the bones are just the NORMAL fossil resources you can find on planets. They're not spawned by the Expedition. You don't need to use the Expedition goal tracker, just look for the yellow radar alerts on the regular scanner
I was getting this personally on planets that don't have the resources so I spent far longer then I should hunting red herrings.
The simple solution, I think, is to see if maybe you can get the objective done on another planet. I had to go to different systems twice, once for horror eggs (because competition) and the second time was for fossils (I don't know why the 5th phase requires fossils but doesn't supply them to you).
Fossil/bones ... first planet where everyone starts the expedition.... so you will need to head back or else find a system nearby with a planet that has fossil/bones.
Except it's not the nest/hive thing. It's the rendezvous point.
I wasn't saying the topical issue doesn't exist. I negated a completely false statement of 'expedition cannot be completed'. I am eager to help solve an issue as much as I can, because I hate flawed software that instead of joy brings grief. Since OP posted in the general forum one can assume they needed some kind of feedback. The basis of solving an issue is to identify it's nature and trying to replicate it, so I shared my experience and even said I'd redo my expedition, which I did. After this post I shared my findings in another one, so saying to me something in tone your response had is somewhat unjustified.
On another note, I AM experiencing multiple issues with the game, but still more or less enjoying it despite that.
Therefore you didn't negate anything, because while you don't have the bug, those that do have it, cannot complete the expedition.
My statement isn't false, it's completely true.
So, are you still stuck? can't find the rendezvous point? Want coordinates of that point to go and see what happens when you arrive there? Or do you want wait until it's fixed?
