Lost Void Egg before completing Starbirth

I was nearly finished with the Starbirth quest, only to die repeatedly from a random glitch in my base. Lost all my inventory (including the void egg). Please, is there any way I can get it back and resume the quest for Living ship?

I don't care about the rest of the inventory. I just want the egg back so I can complete this mission. :/

I'm very tempted to mark this as a topic answer actually.

The glitches in this game are unreal. And they thought losing inventory on death was a good idea when random glitches will kill you multiple times in a row with no warning or reason?
Should not be possible to get your inventory wiped in a game that breaks every other hour. :/

What does the quest say now that those items have gone, or has it not changed?

You may be able to use the NMSSaveEditor to get those items back if you don't mind using such a program.

I was on the step just before the egg cracks. Had the last piece and was waiting for it to mature when I died and lost egg. Anyway, I hopped on to see what would happen when that part was matured. It gave me a cracking void egg. XD

So I guess it fixed itself?

Reload a manual save. That's what they are for. You may lose a little time but not everything.

Reload a manual save. That's what they are for. You may lose a little time but not everything.

Unfortunately I couldn't access a manual save from a time before I lost the egg. I didn't realize it was gone until 2 hours of play and many manual saves later. I'm also not fond of the idea of downloading a program to edit saves.

But it fixed itself, so no worries.

Can I guess??? The timer ended and the mature item popped into inventory.

The timer ended and gave me the Void egg back at the proper stage. I only lost the egg, not any of the mature pieces.
