Launch Thruster Upgrades?
Does anyone know what the boost upgrade actually does? Fuel is too cheap to devote a lot of slots too; I just install the recharging thruster upgrade so I can always summon my ship even if I forget to fuel it. But if these modules actually do something worthwhile...

I think that fuel efficiency is the big payoff for those upgrades. You are correct that if you already have the trickle charge upgrade that slowly refills the fuel...probably not needed.

They appear to be an early game alternative if you can't find the mats or have the BP for the better upgrade. Also, you end up with enough slots and too many nanites...so might as well add them regardless of utility.

...you can have "enough" slots? On something other than a multitool?

In my testing in my Explorer (already reduced launch cost) I had 3 in tech & 3 in regular. On a full charge a single launch showed 94% remaining. <- def way overkill if you also have the recharger

I haven't checked for the very reasons every one has mentioned but does it increase the speed that you fly while not in pulse? If so then it may be decent for that reason. If not there is really no point. Even with out the recharge module 250 uranium will give you tons of launches. You just have to remember to refuel before you exit so that there is enough in the tank to summon the ship.

I did few test with upgrades and without. I have s-class recharger and rarely run low on fuel and need to add uranium. Those launch thruster upgrades are not for me...
