To those playing on a Quest 2...
Airlink or Virtual Desktop? Which gives you better performance?

Cheers

Virtual Desktop for me. Tried every settings from graphics, SS and bitrate and air link keeps lagging for me. Virtual desktop is way more stable and constant.

Virtual Desktop for me also.

Virtual Desktop. I'm going to try the new beta to see how that performs. He's developed his own version of ASW that is handled by the Quest 2 rather than the PC which sounds interesting.

1000% VD I get weird artifacts with air link.... BUT air link works with GTA VR mod and RDR2 VR mod... so both are great to have

Play at 120hz and enable half-frame-rate ("force 45fps ASW disabled"). 60fps is enough and will greatly reduce both CPU and GPU usage. Im on 8700K+2070Super and It run almost flawless. (1.7x max res at 120hz)

Now that I have 4 hours under my belt, VD is better. And with today's update - GOT TO HAVE IT! :)

I tried out both, like the 120Hz of Air Link, but I prefer plugging in with a USB cable.

And just as an FYI, you need a pretty powerful WiFi router to do any sort of taxing gaming with Air Link. Have to remember that the link cable they suggest is upto 2.0Gbps+. Average home router is probably less than 1Gbps, if you're using your ISPs built in WiFi from the modem it could be less.

It also depends on if you're connected via 2.5GHz, or 5GHz, 2.5 being far less data transfer than 5.

I personally use an ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 that offers 2 x 5GHz channels that offer 4.8Gbps transfer rate and have zero stutter or issue at all with it. Thankfully I got it used, I think it retails for $530 CAD ($440 USD).

Virtual Desktop is the better option for now. Air Link is already great but it needs some more work.

Original Quest at the moment, but Riftcat works best for me. Something about Virtual Desktop doesn't like my PC. I have to fight with it to get it working (stopping and restarting the service 20+ times before it'll connect).
