Base Computer Archives mission in the middle of space?
How can I fix this? You cannot reset this mission. I was doing some things near the galactic hub space station and somehow the game now thinks my base computer is in the middle of space near there. It only gives the beacon there, it won't let me access the archives at my actual base, far from there. Even if I upload the base, restart multiple times, and delete other computers, it does not fix it. How can I fix this incredibly annoying and strange bug that is plaguing my world and viciously sucking the joy out of my incredible experience with this amazing game?

Ok, that's a lot different than I and probably others were thinking.
If possible - one thing I can think of you might try... just build a base on one of the planets in that system. Don't have to get fancy - just plop down a base computer, Teleporter, and a power source like a single solar panel/battery to run it.
Then try accessing the archive missions from that base computer - use the teleporter to go to the space station... then teleport to another base of yours.
At that base, access the archive missions from there, teleport back to the base you just created and delete it.
See if that kills the floating icon.

I hav eno idea if this will work, but it is the only logical process I can think of that is the first step to try.

How did that happen? A base BC cannot by itself end up in space, you must have caused it in some way.

With the save editor it may be possible to delete it, but if it would also solve the problem with the base archive, I do not know.

You cannot run the main missions from a freighter. You should upload a land base...or create one if you don't have any.
It's a rare bug. Here's how to fix it, pretty simple really:
Teleport to local space station & then fly to your base's real location. That's it.

Yup, happened to me while I was charting all 255 galaxies and just hopping from one to the other. (by the way - the black hole before jumping at the core still works)
Took me forever to find that little bit of wisdom as quoted. Worked for me.

to avoid that bug you teleport to your base system and then switch to the mission.

flying to orbit and back also works.

Wait, when you say the mission is 'far away in another system floating in space' - do you mean a system you never visited? Or a system that you have a base in?
What happens if you actually go to that system? Can you actually reach where it is pointing you to? Is there a base it is 'attached to'?
There are some questions that need answering and some details missing from your issue here.
Provide some specific detail and we might be able to solve this. Thanks.

This does not help at all. It thinks the base computer is somewhere far away in another system floating in space, when there is clearly no computer there, only the icon.

oh too bad. for me it was like that. had 2 bases in starting system and it would always say it's on the other base unless I did like I wrote.

you can get all recipes with other activities afaik.. not a big help but at least you don't miss out on things.
