Living rock creature???

So I was using the mining beam on some random rocks and stones for minerals.
Then one of the rocks decided, it wasn't having any of that.

So it got up and walked away...

It has six purple spider/crab like legs that extended out from it's rock body. Took a heck of a beating from the laser, and gave me some minerals, and meaty bits in the end.

I couldn't scan it, even though it had the unknown scan icon over it.
Did someone put this in the game as a joke?

I've noticed there are a few creatures that can't be scanned, like the cool sea mantis on the same planet.

Those living rocks have been around for awhile now. I don't they have any purpose other than to be a 'fun find'.

Those walking rocks can come in any size. Even the big stones that give pure ferrite, and those big ones can fight back too.
