You Can't Tame Flying Worms?
I'm very confused, in the update HG said that you could tame flying worms . . . I've been trying to tame a stupid worm for the past 30 minutes, trying new tactics like leading them towards the ground and trying to feed them from the ground, trying to feed them from the back, from the front, from the top, from the bottom, trapping them . . . you get the point.

So, does this mechanic not work yet or am I doing it wrong?

Are you talking about the huge monster worms or the smaller floaters that might be called worms? Screenshot would help.

The smaller flying ones, not Sandworms, I'm pretty sure that HG calls them (as in the larger ones that jump out of the ground) Sandworms but I could be wrong and be wasting my time.

How do you get close enough to those? Even some land critters are difficult to find the sweetspot where the feeding option is triggered. Like the big striders that move fast, those are hard to tame for me.

Find a high point, use your jetpack to fly over them and lead one towards the ground and pray to god it gets stuck on something, and sometimes if you're fast enough you can land on one in the air by falling onto it.

That sounds like you're missing the sweet spot, but keep trying. You might be the first to tame one.

I feel like I'm the only one that actually wants to fly a giant fish-worm-thing, haha

I just wanna have a worm :(

Just curious - where is that said?

In the video, at 17sec it says, "flying creatures can now become pets, and be ridden". (No mention of worms specifically).

In the full patch notes it says:

* Virtually all low-flying and land-based creatures can now be tamed and adopted as companions.
* Low-flying companions can be mounted and flown through the sky.

(Emphasis on "low-flying"; high-flying worms not mentioned).

Flying creatures, such as giant beetles, flying worms and colossal butterflies, as well as some of the more bizarre, exotic and description-defying alien creatures, can now all be adopted as your companions. (From the link below)

They didn't specify what kind of "flying worms", but I assume that they meant, well, the flying worms. But they could mean those really rare little, less worm-like, flying worms that they had in the trailer.

I've seen that "worm" being ridden and its in a different category than the floater worms higher up.

Oh well, I guess we'll have to wait a little longer until we can ride actual flying worms :/

Could be a bug your end, just saying.

Yep, it does indeed say it there. Thanks for the link!

Having read it - I understand how you got that impression.

Never said it wasn't, I'm pretty sure I misunderstood what they meant by flying worms now.

It still would be kinda neat to be able to ride worms, though, haha

My bad, I guess it was all worth it in the end in the name of science
