DLSS/VR Performance Overview :(
*CHECK OUT MY UPDATED PERFORMANCE GUIDE FIRST*

https://steamcommunity.com/app/275850/discussions/0/3118160027729850682/

RTX 2060 6GB + Ryzen 2600 6C-12Th

Before this update I ran at 45 FPS with a lot of cpu stuttering. That was mainly in my big base, outside I got an average of 65-70.

I've gone over every performance guide I can to try and tweak every single setting on my computer to squeeze out some fps.

DLSS - Ultra looks almost no different from TAA - Low and my performance was either the same or perhaps worst. Framerate did not change. Locked at 45fps

DLSS - Performance & Ultra Performance look worse than TAA Low and I actually saw a performance downgrade. I'm assuming this is due to my CPU bottlenecking my GPU. Also locked at 45fps

DLSS - Balanced seem to offer a more stable CPU performance which introduced less stuttering. However, I am capped at 45 FPS in my base and even outside of my base which was not an issue before. LOD seemed worse on the lower Planetary Quality Option from default (could be wrong). Locked at 45fps

Now without DLSS, my framerate is still locked at 45fps things look better and the cpu stuttering is there.

All settings are on Standard besides Texture Quality being on High for my 6GB vram.
This one came as a shock to me, I can no longer get 90 FPS in space.. I get 55 going through free space. I gotta say, for VR I am disapointed. It could just be my system but when you play games like Half Life Alyx at a solid 80fps decent SS and no reprojection it makes me sad face that I cant run this game a little bit higher. I can live with 45 FPS vr but the cpu stuttering is the biggest complaint I have. I've sucken 80 hours into this game within 1 week, as soon as my base got bigger the performance issues started to arise. $1200 computer and I still can't get a decent framerate. Anyone think that this will be a constant forever thing and that only newer more powerful tech will be the solution to this?

Will DLSS be getting further updates?
Anything I can do to help my current situation without upgrading?
Any idea why I'm locked at 45 even tho vsync is off, motion smoothing is off, all that is off so I dont get that either..

It goes up to 60fps after this update when I could get 70 fps just by looking away from my base now it's a constant 45fps. I love the game! I just know that tech isn't always up to date with the times.. I dont wanna blame HG, is there more that can be done to make this just work??? I'm no game developer so I can only imagine the issues ahead to make such a good looking game more playable on Mid-Ranged Computers in VR. Because for me DLSS seems to solve minor issues with cpu stutters but image quality is a tad bit worse than TAA and TAA is really the lowest I wanna go with picture clarity. I guess what I can do is turn down my Super sampling.. But again, clarity is going to suffer heavily with DLSS and turning down my SS from current setting. Happy travels, great work with the game overall HG!

Pls help
Just my 2 cents worrth Dyortos, have you installed Nvidia Experience and let it 'optimise' the game?
Bilo 2021年6月2日 14時27分
I turned off its overlay, but I'll do that and give it a shot. Im not sure what it'll be able do to since I have access to the same in game settings Experience has access to correct?

I only play this game in VR. I have a AMD 6900xt. I am probably screwed now. I hope FSR will work and Hello Games works it into a update
I see zero difference in performance with DLSS on or off. Framerate is exactly the same. I got a RTX 2070 and I7 6600k clocked to 4.5 ghz. Playing with a 3440x1440 resolution with around 60 frames near places with a lot of buildings and ships. So DLSS does not seem to work

I'd imagine some bug fixes for DLSS will be on the way at some point. The game really needs optimization to it. We love new things, but an update for performance alone would be greatly appreciated. They seem to be working on a lot of aspects of the game to make it BETTER. I know performance is on that list.
This game is heavily CPU limited, I don't think DLSS does much if anything to reduce CPU load, its all about reducing GPU rendering resolution without affecting quality. So it's not surprising in reality it doesn't improve framerates.

It should in theory mean you can run higher quality graphics at the same frame rate as before though with DLSS enabled.

DLSS - Balanced
Steam SS - 150% + NMS SS - 112%
This provides me with less cpu stuttering and most options set to enhanced besides Texture Quality and Planetary quality. Hopefully future updates will help, but from what I've gathered I cant expect it anytime soon.
DLSS fixed the flicker in the space station launch tubes for me. Full details in the other DLSS thread.

Exactly this. If you're already CPU bound then DLSS won't help frame rates. But you should be able run higher resolution than you could before.

Additionally all the new graphical updates in this patch may negate some of the DLSS GPU gains as well!

Just went and tried it out with my system, getting 60 FPS (locked) on Ultra with DLSS set to Quality. Tried landing on planets, sitting through storms, flying in space, space combat, and just walking around stations and my freighter. Aside from not knowing how to get out of my ship for 15 minutes, didn't see a single issue

Running an Oculus Quest 2, tried both cable link, and air link.

Specs
i7-8700k
3070
32GB 3600MHz
970 EVO M.2

Are you using 120hz mode and forcing ASW to half frame?
2070 super
R9 5950x

Index on 80 fps.

Everything on standard except animation (ultra) and terrain (advanced).
GTAO Off
AA Off
Anisotrop 16

Stable at 100% SS in steam for most of the time (get about 5-9% repoproj)

Turning DLSS on does absolutly nada on frametimes . It only softens the image by a lot.
TXAA level.

So I´m waiting for a 3080 to get the settings up to advanced on a decdent SS+framerate

This is already a 3000€ PC and the game does still run that poorly.

Still hoping that there is a bug in DLSS , can´t see the 60-80% fps increase anywhere.
Not even in 2D 1080p

I wish we could have DLSS without Anti-aliasing on. I prefer the clearer image you get with Anti-aliasing off. Anti-aliasing makes for too soft a image in VR.

How would that be different from setting render resolution to less than 100%?
