Technology overload limits
After this most recent patch it seems like the limitation on the number of technology upgrades has been changed, but i cant figure out how.

The rules used to be the tech + 1 recipe upgrade + 3 purchased upgrades + as many X upgrades as you can fit.

Now almost all my tech is overloaded and I'd rather not just start disassembling modules at random. Does anyone know what the current limitations are?

I don't know myself, if the limits changed with the new patch.

Before this update at least, you were limited to 3 upgrade chips of a type, per eligible inventory. ("eligible" = suit tech goes in suit, ship tech in ship etc. Suit tech can go in normal inventory but not cargo)

Unless there was a glitch for you, the X class upgrades count toward the three in each inventory. You are correct that you can add as many BPs as you have without overload.

The big benefit of the X class upgrades is you could obtain the shield ones. There is no version of those in the regular upgrades. They mainly added different resistances to various hazard weather.
