That's another thing that has been bugging me (both literally and figuratively).
I used to watch Stations just to get an idea of what might be available on the planets,i.e., if I see a Tier3 A Class fighter on a max wealth station, there's maybe a chance to find an S Class quicker on a planet.
So I used to watch max wealth stations for about the first three waves, just to identify ones that justify further time on the planets.
Most of the time on this save, the stations stop having more NPC ships landing, unless I leave the station and return or reload.
I also just bought a ship for scrapping (after I the post I made above), and after scrapping it, the game teleported another of my ships into the station. So I had two ships on that station after the scrapping.
I flew the one I didn't want back to my freighter. But the one I did want was not on the freighter. So I had to return to one of my bases to summon the one I did want (the game presumes to select what it thinks is my best ship, which has always been a problem, instead of keeping track of the ship I was using before scrapping a ship.)
I think they broke some things since I last played.
Edited note: Although I doubt it relates to the Exotic RNG, except it now takes more work to get the Stations to automatically have ships fly in. Or when they do, if you buy one.
EDIT: but it's still the best place to get one "faster"

That's good to know, thanks! Even though I'm just using the coordinates I've found myself before ;)
In my experience the ship seeds have not changed, I still have found the same ships, what changes is the first wave stuff. Only the frequency in which they spawn seems to have changed. I have also noticed that the reload scumming on TP platforms is less successful than before.
When I want a specific ship, I just stand on the SS platform for several waves. While there I visit all the NPCs and collect Pugneum, Gold, Silver, Platinum and Goop to refine into nanites. I'll even use the backpack refiner on everything but the goop. It takes a fare amount of waves to talk to all the NPCs that visit each platform.
I assume SS= System Stations and TP=trading post.
If so, my problem is also due to waves stopping at some point on stations (it's fine on trading posts). Like half an hour waiting with no ships.
But I think Kobs answered my questioned wrt Exotics.
You know, it's funny you mention that. I started a new save on Xbox, to play with testing some of the multiplayer dynamics and I have noticed this on the Xbox save. I just figured is had something to do with that.
I have not done the Space Station (SS) waiting game, on my main PC save in a while. In Expeditions, I just got the Vector from the Anomaly. So, I haven't done any Ship hunting. Now I'll have to test that as well.
Cool, thanks! I'd love to hear your results!
Misery loves company and all ;)
1) From my experience the spawns stay consistent, I have never hunted a ship that ended up not being there so from my experience at least, the spawns haven't changed.
2) I believe the spawn time for certain exotics is at around 5 hours.
3) If you have been playing for a while chances are some exotic has spawned around you without you even noticing. Once that happens, your 5 hour timer resets so it's not smart to just go looking randomly, you have to plan it.
How to get the exotic you want
1) Do it when you first log in to make sure no exotic has spawned around you during your time playing as this would have reset your timer.
2) Go through your portal as fast as you can, no detours.
3) Find a trading post because as mentioned above, stations simply stop spawning sometimes and the ship could spawn and get stuck in traffic outside and you'll never even know it. You could be there all day..literally.
4) Make sure there are no other buildings with landing pads around you on the other side of a mountain for example because the ship could land there and fly off again without you even noticing.
5) Once at the trading post, stand in the corner of the landing pad and pull up your build camera. This allows you to pull the camera back and see the whole landing pad and it also prevents weather from hurting you.
Bonus
This is the coolest exotic in the game imo and one of the more rare ones. Enjoy. :)

This is in Euclid.
I just tested it to make sure, took me 12 minutes to get it after starting the game for the first time today and heading straight there.
Could be, I'm not exactly sure. I have read otherwise and have not seen any code to confirm or deny either theory. What I explained is purely based on my personal experience. The other day while gaming I went to get one and ended up waiting 4 hours, today I tested it in a clean game and it came in 12 minutes so I'm leaning towards my theory atm.
I think it's random based on some probability. There have been days, when doing other things, I have stumbled on several in a few hours play. Mostly commonly when I land at TPs and jump down to ground level to do things. I hear the Exotics landing. I always screen shot those, if I can, and post on Reddit. However, I have an orange Squid and a White V-Wing that I wouldn't want to replace. My main ship is an X-Wing Explorer, I really don't use the Exotics much.
Like I said, I'm not sure because I have not seen the code myself. What I posted is my assumption based on my personal experience in the game. I'm not familiar with Gumsk as I have never modded NMS and I'm not saying he is wrong, I'm just saying I can not confirm or deny either theory myself but to me it sure feels like there is a timer on these spawns. Both could be true for all I know because if it was really that random then you'd see them more often.
That said, this is all based on my opinion. I have been modding many years myself but I haven't touched NMS and if he is a major mod creator then he probably knows what he is talking about but that doesn't help me get my ship. My method has worked out quite well so far. I tested it before posting in this thread just to confirm my theory and it seemed to work out as expected.
