Rip-off Travelers took my Nanites and gave me nothing!
I'm just trying to find the last four or five Glyphs so I can make full use of the Portals... searching space for Travelers... found two on one station! Yay! Gave one of them 100 nanites to point me to his grave. Nothing happened. No waypoint, no nothing, nada. Flew out, looked around, stared at every planet, nothing. Maybe just a glitch? Tried the other Traveler there. Same result. Warped to another system, found another Traveler. Maybe it was just that system that was weird? Gave him 100 Nanites. Nothing. Realized both were Atlas Interface systems, maybe THAT'S the bug? I know it's worked BEFORE! Warped around some more, found another system with two Travellers in the Space-Station. Gave one of them 100 Nanites.

NOTHING. No-bloody-thing. I even had a friend helping me out, warping around in search of more travelers - he tried talking to one of them too, gave 'em nanites, NOTHING! That's 500 Nanites flushed down the toilet for BLOODY NOTHING, and unlike what we got out of our time and currency, 500 Nanites ain't nothing!

I rage-quit after that. Maybe it'll all be fixed when I log in next time. At least I'll get 100 Nanites back, since my last autosave was before I paid the last of the interstellar rip-off artists. Seriously, what the bloody hell?

You seriously think they're on Zendesk reading all the issues?

More to the point, I was hoping for someone to recognize the issue, and maybe tell me how to avoid or work around it. Waiting for it to actually get FIXED seems like a... less than efficient course of action.

It could've been taken off with a new update who knows I'm going to try it and edit this post

Edit: nope still works, the traveler doesn't actually give you anything in your inventory but if you fly out of the station a coord. will be visible on a planet of the system you fly out there and find a futuristic little tombstone like thing it worked for me anyways I just tried it and I have all of my gliphs

Makes sense, and I really wish I had something to offer, but this is a new one for me. It sounds like you tried all the stuff it could have been, so the last thing that there is is to see if there's a grave anywhere you've been at any part of the planet. I'm hoping they're not single-spawn, though. I'm also thinking that might be woefully inefficient. I don't know, man, that's a tough one. If it helps, I did find traveller graves without NPC assist, so it's possible but not as fun. Hope this gets resolved for you!

I've found a couple randomly too. But that's hardly an efficient approach. As for whether there's a grave on any of the planets in any of the systems I've visited... that would obviously be EXTREMELY HARD to confirm, but there's basically no way they could 'randomly' fail to spawn on every planet in three separate systems. So if there really aren't any, then it's simply an issue with graves not spawning, rather than with Travelers failing to point you at them...

Are you sure you checked all the planets of that system?

In each case, I did a visual sweep of every planet to make sure there was no waypoint-icon on any of them, yes. But normally, you wouldn't even have to - the Waypoint would be hovering in the edge of your screen even if you weren't looking directly at it.

u can select mission on log and it will highlight ur objective, 500 nanites is nothing stop crying
BlackDragon Mar 1, 2021 @ 3:06pm
No such missions in my log. I don't think Traveller Graves usually GIVE you missions in the first place, but if they do, well, they DON'T in this case.

And 500 Nanites most definitely isn't 'nothing'. In fact, it's exactly 500 Nanites. Also, an hour of time is one hour, and 7 warp-jumps is 7 Warp Cells. To be even more precise, I'm not CRYING, I'm SWEARING, because this ♥♥♥♥ PISSES ME OFF. The lost nanites are just adding insult to injury... or injury to insult, I suppose. The insult's what really burns, either way.

They don't, they give you an opportunity to get a glyph, you let the alien speak and at the end it says extract glyph, you do it and you have one more glyph in your bunch

In any case something must be wrong with your game (mods or something) cause it still works

I was referring to the Travelers giving you a mission in your Log to find their grave, which is what the polite, well-spoken gentleman above my previous post claimed, and I'm still pretty sure THAT doesn't happen either - they just give you a waypoint, same as if, say, you use an Observatory to get a Ruin-waypoint.

No mods, incidentally, though as mentioned, I WAS in multiplayer, which can make strange things happen, I suppose. I think I've cooled down enough by now to try and log in and see if the old 'turning it off and on again' approach might work...

1 hour? ur doing it rong, try maybe 10 minutes of waiting in a space station to buy ships and dismantle them for nanites, 1 hour u make over 10k of nanites.

I meant the hour I spent hunting around for unhelpful Travelers... oh, why do I even bother.

Ahem. When I booted the game up again, the problem had fixed itself... SORTA. I was able to get grave-directions from the two Travelers in the station I had logged out in. However, when I returned to the earlier stations, where I had already paid the Travelers, there were still no waypoints, and talking to them revealed that they still 'remembered' me paying them for the info, hence I could not do so again.
Cannenses Mar 1, 2021 @ 5:10pm
This only applies to Travellers at Trading Posts: Don’t pay them, just use visor to scan.

I’ve had countless times that I landed at TP - I scanned, saw graves, extracted glyphs. Then returned to TP to hunt ships and only then discover a Traveller walking around, lol. Too late, already got the glyphs. :-)
