What is the purpose of living ships?
I've tried getting a couple, but their stats seem to be universally terrible. You can't buy upgrades, have to grind space anomalies. They have practically no storage space. They block your view in the cockpit a lot (not as bad as the hauler ships though). I'm just struggling to see any reason to use it over a normal exotic.

They look cool, sometimes.

I like to use mine to explore, because it has a lift-off that only drops 7% and is usually full by the time I launch again, also I can make 2.7kly jumps for 4 or 5 chronometal so hey why not. It also uses gold for pulse fuel, and chromatic metal for warps, having a couple of mines gives me a huge surplus of these and just makes it just more convienent for me.

Ah, I suppose the materials used is a big upside. My one currently just has terrible stats, and grinding for upgrades is proving to be incredibly slow.

You could try here, someone posted this a while ago but I cant find the post anymore, I just went back to get the glyphs.

This place was maybe 3 or 4 bases when I went, now it has maybe a couple dozen.

Basically though you can ether go to the station make a save and reload pulse drive around for a few seconds and one should show up, pulse again for a few more and a second one pops, then go back to the station, save and repeat. At least it worked when I was there, there was a patch or two since so who knows.

The point? Just to feel like you did something epic. While the ship doesn't match the effort, you do have a bit of pride for suffering through the quest line to get it. It nests in my freighter and it's just going to stay there, a trophy ship but not much else.

Their possible stats are similar to exotics' (except maneuverability). They also require different (arguably more abundant) resources compared to conventional ships, which could be an advantage. They also look cool (subjective, I know).

I like mine cause it uses just Oxygen, chromatic and other easy-to-get materials, stuff you can more or less just buy off a terminal. That's what I never understood, why can't you just buy starship launch fuel? You'd think there's be a whole bunch o' space gas stations floating about, but it seems the only way anyone knows how to refuel their ships is to make it themselves.

I never really worry about launch fuel anymore since I installed the recharger technology. If I have to do a lot of take-offs that will make it to where the recharger can't keep up, it's either uranium or pyrrite that keeps me topped up. I have so much of both that it's no big deal. My starter system was loaded with it, so I stocked up because I knew it would have to be useful for more than marketplace profit. Same with dihydrogen - so plentiful that every planet seems to have it every five feet.

But you know? I see the launch fuel at a lot of market terminals. Not every system, of course, but trade depots on planets and the occasional alien usually have some. And by some I mean 60+, more than enough for a long time. It's always baffled me too why it just isn't standard stock everywhere. Seriously. It's not like we can't have a Space Citgo in every star system.
