xbox game pass game better performance than steam versions.
It seems there is a definite difference in performance in games on gamepass compared to steam.

taking no mans sky for instance using the exact same settings on each the steam version is unplayable due to stutter and hitching while the gamepass version is smooth.

Is microsoft limiting steam on windows now due to pushing their own services or is steam's backend causing added lack now that previously?

Something is not quite right.

even while steam is running the gamepass versions have better performance and are smooth.

The antivirus of Windows 10/11 can have activated the protection of the core, which makes your games really slow

The game slowdown caused by Memory Integrity/Core Isolation in Windows 11 is largely a myth. It was never an issue in Windows 10. MS has an article saying that in "some scenarios and some configurations" (meaning "pretty freaking rare") it may affect performance on Windows 11, but we're talking few percent at worst, not a difference of 5-60 fps like you say. Some tech bloggers tried to benchmark it and they got like 5% in the worst case scenario on older hardware. Memory Integrity/Core Isolation in Windows 11 is an important security feature, please don't suggest that people should turn it off. The problem is that once you turn it off it may be impossible to turn it back on so it's not worth the risk.

I upgraded from Windows 10 to 11 last Summer on the same hardware and I have not noticed any difference in gaming performance and I did not mess with Memory Integrity.
No, I think you are talking about the intelligent application system, which once deactivated can NEVER reactivate it, instead the core isolation can be activated and deactivated whenever you want, and it is clear that I have lived those 5fps and those 60fps, with which it is impossible for anyone to tell me that it does NOT affect performance, It's not something I've heard or read or seen, it's something lived.

Yes, I am talking about Core Isolation/Memory Integrity, the virtualization-based security feature and I know one should be able to turn it on and off at will (requires restart though) but people on various forums report that they can't turn it back on once disabled for some reason. It was a coincidence of sorts or that one specific game had an unusual bug. There is no way Core Isolation by itself would cause that significant performance drop. This was never an issue under Windows 10. Are you running Windows 11 on unsupported CPU?

DaysGone played it in Windows 10 and it was when I realized that I had activated the core isolation, it was before the 2H22 update, I know why this latest update makes Windows 10 not start, which was why they basically "encouraged" me to install Windows 11

However, I do not want to capture the thread with something that the user can or cannot do, that is, he can try it and if it is fixed then it is already and if he should not look at more things. My computer is 10 years old and I play this game perfectly, it is more, I can say that it works very well in Windows 10/11, what I can not try in the game pass, otherwise I would

Yeah, agreed, sorry.
I'm just against the idea of encouraging people to disable Core Isolation.

I have the sane problem with Valheim. was running game pass version which team fine but after latest update it would no longer connect to the Gportal server so had to buy the steam version but now the performance is abysmal even on my own local pc server yet game pass version still ok.
PeaceMaker Apr 2, 2023 @ 4:34am
haha. I'd still use Steam even if its performance was garbage.

You'll never get me paying a subscription for an Xbox game pass. Ever. It should be illegal.

This isnt that kind of game. This isnt a 'get rich and get the best stuff' type of game. Basebuilding and doing quests for npcs was never supposed to be a major part of NMS.

The game is supposed to be about nomadic exploration and discovery. That's it.
this yes, i dont have much issues either.

Your point of view may be a little biased, no?

No. You don't tell others what the game is supposed to be about. The game has many aspects that are there to be exploited and enjoyed. Exploration is just one part of the game. The beauty of the game is indeed that you can make your own game indeed. But many people enjoy running missions, building, farming, etc and if you try to experience the game to its fullest then you will see a lot more problems with it.

You fell for the false expectations, huh?

I think games run more freely on Xbox (PC) vs Steam.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
