Possible save editor problems?
I recently used a save editor to assist in a bugged quest. Ever since I used it I cannot connect to multiplayer sessions with my friend (im on PC he in on Xbox). I know some games, if they detect a edited save will throw you into a multiplayer "jail." Does that happen with no mans sky?

No, that doesn't happen. There are no servers in the traditional sense and you can't be banned.

Oh my lord, you used a save editor? ... Better shut off the computer and lay low for a few days - hopefully you will slip under the radar and they wont come knocking on your door to confiscate your equipment.

Funny. I ask because I play Dark Souls, If they detect a edited save, you get locked into servers with all the hacks and cheaters and its a death sentence if you are trying to PVP.

The save editor mod I understand makes back ups of saves. You might find the zipped back up and restore your game. If you use any kinds of mods keep back up files of those you are editing. Perhaps the save editor didn't recognise the recent update to the game and has corrupted your file. Mod programmers may not yet have caught up with the changes Companions has made to the game.

Some players also have been altering the clock times of their PCs to speed up the new Companions egg hatching. Clock timers can cause problems with base doors opening or not opening, so maybe 'egg timers' have caused your game to incorrectly sync with multiplay? There could be any number of reasons timings and syncing of servers don't connect due to corrupted data. It might be that the problem corrects itself in 24 hours once timers catch up, if the problem is due to clocks at all.

The save editor makes backups before saving changes. They're in the backups folder under the folder containing the editor's jar file, as zip files. If you think something went wrong during a save, or even if you change your mind about a change, you can always restore the game files from one of these backups.

I've been using the save editor occasionally for years, all the way back to the foundations version, and have never had any troubles with it. When you start it up, it will tell you if there's a newer version. Click the Help menu item to see where you can download an update. The current version, as of 2/25/2021, is 1.7.2.
