About the food "review" the outcome is random, it will hate it or like the exact same dish for no reason.
Yes that is very little reward for the effort. The food system is half baked and poorly balance.
Cronus will select three edible items from your inventories, you pick one for him to try (the guy is an animal, will often select bait or nanotubes). Rewards are semi random but he will usually give more nanites for more complex products, especially desserts.
Thanks for the reply on this. Yeah, that's totally disappointing! It's worse than what you get from plucking a sodium flower after I milked animals and processed flower and made all kinds of stuff. Very weird.
I'm just amazed they don't reflect the same quality boosts as the other modifications, C through S. Like if I go thought the trouble to make tier 4 food, it should give me 10 minutes of S-quality boosts. Or if I sell a stack of them, maybe I could afford to buy an S-quality upgrade with the nanite profits. Hrm.
I guess the Nexus guy does give some nanites for things but you could spend the time exploring and get just as many if not more.
I got bored with it pretty quickly and maybe got 40% of the recipes before I could not find any joy in it. I was fortunate that I placed my animal stuff right on a spawn point so I didn't have to drag them over to it each time.
