Construction Limit Reached
From what I understood, each base you build has a construction limit - namely how far from the base computer you can build but also how many items you can construct for that respective base.

As of yesterday, every single base displays the "construction limit reached" notification - I literally can't build anything further on any of my bases, even bases on different planets or in different galaxies.

Is this a limit that has always been in place OR a glitch or new limitation from the latest PC update?

NMS has literally just lost its appeal if I can't actually build anything else...

There are 2 construction limits. One is a per base construction limit and then there is an overall total construction limit per save.

Make sure under Graphic settings you have "Base Complexity" set to ULTRA

There is a hard limit on base parts 20k or so, counting every single base you have per savefile. That one cannot be changed.
Delete some bases to free some parts.

I've increasing the base complexity from High to Ultra with no effect. Looks like I'll have to down grade and consolidate some of my existing bases... shame!

As for the other question, the limit has always been there.

there is also a volume size limit. I reached a limit on glass cube 11x11x11 and had to leave a hole in mitle.
Keep a copy of your saves folder. Make a copy of the game mode in another game slot. Delete any bases in the copied mode you don't want and carry on. You can always revisit old bases from the copy at any time. You will have two slots now but anything you build in the future will not be seen by the earlier save if you play it again.

You could use the NMSSaveEditor mod I think, to manage bases if you're happy using mods. Always back up anything you would not like to lose when using mods though.

Each base has a 3000 part limit and that is a lot of parts. You must have a LOT of bases with few parts or several very large base builds.

I started with 5 or 6 bases but as I went I only kept 2 of them since I was always at one or the other or in the freighter but that's me. I build, find new ways to do stuff and delete old ones

Besides the geometric size of your base, there are 2 limits : 3K items per base and 20K items in total INCLUDING your freighter base if you have one (the item count of the freighter base is a bit difficult to get) and btw I have 262 bases (at least one per galaxy) so I believe those limits can be managed reasonably easily depending on your own goals :) Enjoy the game !

I might consider/try the modding option - notably I've not played NMS since coming across the limitation, whilst MineCraft has been reinstalled on my PC and Valheim has found its way into my Steam cart ;)

I'm very early in the game, playing for the first time since last night.
Almost pulled a 24 hour straight playing before i nearly dozed off to sleep waiting for my Refinery Tier 1 to taking care of rusted metal...

I'm happy I came across this forum thread, let alone checking the forums.
Good to know that is arbitrary limits in the game to be mindful of!

that is a lot of parts to run it dry in one place. I have not had that much energy. Over time, across all bases, is another story.

TIME TO UPGRADE THAT GRAPHICS CARD?
Chances are you are here either because you have got this message or are experiencing issues with stuff suddenly not working in your base? (Storage units, Save points , Refiners, basically anything you need to interact with)

I spotted the link to the suggestion that you set your Base complexity to ULTRA (see above). When I looked I found that my complexity was not even set to high or even standard but had somehow been set at LOW. I don't remember setting it that way, so I am wondering if the game auto-selects low(er) settings if it experiences performance issues?

SO:-
1. check you base complexity is not LOW, if it is do NOT select ULTRA, try standard or perhaps high.
2. It's time to start saving the pennies and invest in a new Graphics card (with more Graphics dedicated RAM)

The limit in base parts has nothing to do with those things.

@Dirak2012:
OK you are going to need to elaborate:

Has nothing to do with adjusting Base complexity : LOW/NORMAL/HIGH/ULTRA ?

OR

has nothing to do with the specification of the GPU?
