Extreme Survival milestone 2021 stuck at 0.0
I keep walking around outside until the storm (various types) finishes. My Extreme Survival milestone never advances. It is stuck at 0.0 Sols. I'm positive I've spent a good portion of a day outside during storms, but no progress on the milestone. Any ideas? My current planet has Boiling Monsoons weather type.

For a Lush Biome, the Boiling Monsoons weather is Extreme and will be highlighted in red when you look at your planet details.
Extreme Survival milestone will only advance if you spend over 1 planetary day cycle (night & day) in continuous manner (no teleporting or flying outside the atmosphere)
You do not have to be outside for this to advance, just present on the planet subject to the above conditions.

Are you on a planet with extreme weather or aggressive sentinels? Boiling Monsoons sounds like lush planet weather and lush planets don't have extreme weather.

Check out the link... there is a whole section on the table for extreme weather on lush biome planets

They have constant rain and high storm frequency but the storms are not treated as extreme storms.
You MUST be on a planet that has red writing for the weather when you land & it'll have storm crystals also. Time spent inside any building, exocraft or ship will not count. Best bet is to dig a hole in the ground, get in, seal it back up & stay there overnight while you sleep.

The nexus just warped me to my first planet with storm crystals. Milestone progress finally started progressing. Turns out being outside during random storms doesn't count.

I have over a thousand hours playing and spent long long long hours on extreme planets and tried all sorts and I am stuck one increment from having completed the whole thing.

Craig Mark might have the only answer there :steamhappy:

If you are an explorer, you will get the milestone naturally...no real need to dig a hole and wait. It may take several extreme planets explorations, but it is fun to hunt crystals.

Two things to know:
In my experience, if you leave an extreme planet and come back, the ticker will not restart..so no building a base to try to do it in relative comfort.

Extreme sentinel worlds work. Most often these are airless worlds and often the sentinels are sparse. These are great locations to get a lot of the time requirement...and in this case it can be wise to dig a hole and hide from the sentinels. I usually pick a mineral deposit and mine it out.

Indoors does work, at least with underwater bases.

The planet where I got my Dreams of the Deep mission was an interesting place, so I decided I wanted a base in that system. Since the sentinels are extremely hostile and there’s a lot of water, I opted for an underwater base (also it keeps me safe from the boiling rains from time to time).

While decorating, goofing around and generally having fun inside the base, I’ve gotten notification after notification about extreme survival.

Only important if you're into getting all the steam achievements - otherwise there is no prize or anything like that for it!

wow, so best not to even try to advance it until ready to max it out, then do it all at once! Good to know!! <stocking up on beer and Cheetos)

thanks !
It does count as a milestone in the game. You can get nanites from Nexus guy for milestones...so it does have some loot involved.

While I was building, tweaking, and finalizing my activated indium farm, I reached the max rank for sol's gathered,

The planet is in a near constant acid storm, in the extreme manner. If you want the achieve, do the above. I also suggest you max the 2 environment upgrades for your hazard proc before doing so. Also stock up on pyrite, phosphorous, uranium

The big thing about this milestone, is it is buggy and won't actually move up the counter until you've spent the longest time so far getting it's counter progressed.
Like, if you leave a planet with 5.0 on the counter, it won't ever update until you've spent another 5.0 to boost it.

It's really buggy.

Unless they fixed it.

Also, Extreme Weather should count on Lush planets thanks to the Superheated Thunderstorms they get.
I would imagine that's how Storm Crystals get created.
That's not accurate. You make it sound like the counter resets; it doesn't. It has around 50 kind of checkpoints & it resets to the start of that checkpoint. Once you get from the start of that checkpoint to the point you were already at; the counter appears to start counting (though it has been counting the whole time; just from the checkpoint, not your previous total). With 50 or so checkpoints, you never lose very much time at all & it most certainly NEVER starts counting from the beginning & it never has done.
