Farming for money
Any good recipes or suggestions for what I can farm to make money? Looking to start setting up a base with hydroponics and want to see what is worth my effort.

The four basics - star bulb, cactus, solanium, fungus - can be chain-crafted into the classic money maker, Circuit Boards, which in turn can be crafted into Quantum Processors, and then into Fusion Ignitors and Stasis Chambers provided the right minerals and gases. But stopping at Circuit Boards is still an easy money route for farm bases.

you can get the blueprint for Fusion Ignitors and Stasis Chambers from those manufacturing facilities, get the maps at the cartographer, solve the puzzle and get a blue print. Of course they're the last one down in the menu but 5 of those is worth 78 millions well worth the trouble
There are things you can get from derelic freighters I think that can give you more BP in one shot, a bit like storage augmentation (I forget how they're called) but with those it's faster

As already noted, fusion ignitors and stasis chambers are the optimal items to craft. It takes awhile to gather all the BPs and then you have to figure out how to manage the supplies required to craft the components.

That is the main reason I do the frigate missions, since they tend to provide the harder to find raw materials (industrial missions mainly). The minor settlements are also handy. I tend to wing it on gases, but you could build a gas refiner. I think it is more fun to play the harvest from plants and refine gases into radon.

About 16M per crafted item and even a minor effort, like me, means you can get $100M about every 24 hours.

or get the large refinery, combine oxygen and chlorine to expand the chlorine into stacks of 9999 and its $6 million a stack.

Lol, money?

I just made 4 small Activated Indium farms and collect regularly. After a week or so of that you'll be swimming in money. It's passive and keeps you topped off.

I imagine the above mentioned methods are probably more fun though so depends on what you are looking for.

I've yet to find a planet with Activated Indium, do they only spawn on specific types of planets?

Blue star systems with storm crystals. Easiest way to find is using the Nexus mission to gather storm crystals. Then plant a base when you get there.

Can any planet with Storm Crystals spawn it? I think I have a planet i'm at now that has some.

From what I gather pretty much every blue star system has a planet with activated Indium. Look for blue systems with a lot of planets, I believe 6 is optimal (max amount) and you will find one fast. Edit: The more planets in the system, the higher the chance. Once you find out which planet it is by scanning them from space you just land and search for an activated Indium ore deposit with your multitool scanner. Having an S class source or an A class helps a bit but any will work for starters.

Once you find one you gotta get it powered too so a source of power near by is nice. Takes a bit to get it set up but once it's going it'S easy infinite money. My 4 or 5 farms bring in 100 million twice a day. I don't even go collecting until I get low which isn't often.

No way to scan for it other then to fly, land and check for mineral deposits and repeat until you get lucky right?

No it shows you from space. You point at the planet in your ship and hit scan.

I mean to find the locations to set up the miner

Oh yeah that you need to do on foot. Run 200-300 meters..scan. Rinse and repeat. Doesn't take too long. Afterwards you scan around the area looking for power or you can set up solar power to power it.
A couple of points. Activated Indium can spawn on any extreme planet, meaning that it doesn't have to have storm crystals, aggressive sentinel planets can also have activated indium.

Point 2 not all blue star systems contain a planet that produces activated indium especially those that have fewer than the maximum number of planets.
