Is the Void Egg worth it?
Since I started the game I've been contemplating whether or not to save up for a Void Egg. I really like the look of living ships, however, I hear it takes a long time to get after you actually get the void egg . . .

1. How long does it take to get the living ship after receiving the void egg?
2. Is it worth the time?
3. Is it worth the quicksilver?
4. Are there any other important things I should know before I make a decision?

I almost had enough for a void egg on my last save, and the day before I would have had enough for it my save got corrupted. Pretty much ruined my want to get a living ship, since I hadn't even bought anything at the QSC beforehand [So basically the whole point of even going to the Anomaly was to get a living ship].

Anyways, enough with deeply depressing stories. I hope you all aren't weeping like I am right now after typing this up.
[I'm just kidding. No crying going on over here, not a single tear. Just kinda irritated lol]

Edit: Welp, looks like imma save up for a void egg now

Edit edit: Oh wow. No scanners? Dang. Literally all I do in the game nowadays is search for planets and tyranocae, and economy/conflict scanners are vital in finding systems I like. Not sure if I wanna save up for a LS now.

If not a void egg, what should I buy? I already have a ton of base decorations and whatnot. I was liking some of those iteration skins and helmets, but then again I also want armor . . . maybe I'm overthinking it and I should just keep on just buying things on the fly and wasting my QS lol.

1-4. nope, biggest waste of the time in NMS. I have one, not using it at all, sits in my freighter since like I got it...

1. Each section of the mission can be done in less than 20 minutes.

2 & 3 are subjective if you like the look of it and / or like uncovering lore then yes.

4. Know how to follow directions.

1. It takes a least four days.
2. For me, absolutely.
3. For me, absolutely.
4. It does take a long time to get a Living Ship and an even longer time to fully upgrade it. But the quest is interesting and the end result is a powerful exotic that produces some unusual random encounters. I only have two sharships with the Living Ship being my day-to-day workhorse.

It depends. In terms of performance a kitted out S-Class exotic is better everywhere and probably less effort to get.

The quest is interesting, the ships are interesting and like a lot of this game it depends on how you want to play it. I just took my time, dinked around having fun and didn't bother to check places like you-tube for hints until I'd done the main plotline and the living ship was part of the experience.

As a comment, allowing the Living ships to either hover or land on water would make them VERY desirable.

Same here, I had 3 for a short while and now I'm just keeping this one in my freighter probably because if I ever want to remember what it's like to drive it but i'm really thinking of using it as an exchange to finish my collection of exos.

Edit: Some of them look like plucked chickens, the devs could've made a special kind of mechanical ship that makes you go wow! with super shields super firepower extra speed etc. (elite dangerous ships) but decided on those things... They're only appealing to the new guy

Hehe, I nicely fit in this veteran bracket but I am not annoyed. I have 2500+ hours in NMS. Did LS mission only once when we got them. Never again. Waste of time that can be spend on actually playing the game and exploring stuff...

I did not like my living ship. It did indeed look like a plucked chicken. I wanted to get rid of it, unfortunately, there is not way, in game, to do that. I was going to use the save editor to delete it, but first I switched the seed, to a more colorful one. I haven't deleted it yet, but will likely soon. Getting the upgrades are annoying and time consuming don't have great value even when upgraded. There is no advantages and it hogs up a ship slot.

Yesterday I had someone gift me a void egg in the Anomaly. 3200 quicksilver worth deleted. I didn't even try to sell the thing.

Clearly I'm outnumbered here. But a fully leveled Living Ship is a good ship for anything. It's just a matter of personal preference. There is no real combat in this game, who needs all the storage and for long-distance warping, the freighter is the way to go. I like the Living Ship, so there! : P

You can exchange it for any other ship at a space station but it's worth almost nothing .... but you can.... that's what I did with my other living ships... abandoned them in the space station for another ship loll
