Pulsing never spawns a Derelict Freighter you can enter.
But as for a prerequisite... Have Cold Suit Upgrades installed and take plenty of batteries.
A bolt caster upgrade would also be a help.
Not entirely true. In my time I've found ONE (count them, ONE) boardable derelict freighter by pulsing. Meanwhile, I've found 20 wrecked freighters, which cause me to adjust course a little and continue my lightspeed journey. I don't waste my time with wrecks anymore, it's never worth the time for me. Derelict are actually kind of fun, though, in that once a day kinda way. And yeah, I'm leaving out all kinds of other things that happened by pulsing, but who seriously keeps any kind of count of random traders and cultists who don't speak their own language? I've also found the giant whale skull once, only once. Found spatial intelligence neurons like 6 times, artifact portal things twice.... but most of the time it's just some idiot expecting me to trade in high orbit when I'm just trying to get home. Is this what travelling salesmen where like before the telemarketing of the 1960s?

I hope it helps!
