So, idiot me decides to pop off a shot at a drone outside the tunnel entrance, because I had one more to eliminate for a quest. Doggy was up above me outside the tunnel, and lazed me through the dirt. Dead.
I respawn at my ship, nearby. No idea where the tunnel was. No shields, superheated rainstorm still raging -- also three angry predators, and me with no food for them. Dead again.
"All we had to do was get in the damn starship, C.J.!!"
Spent a couple of hours getting all my elements back. Bought several stacks at the trading post, mainly oxygen, sodium, carbon, and ferrite.
NOTE: You don't lose the inventory in the expanded cargo slots -- so when you find drop pods, always get those slots, not regular ones. And keep all your essential elements in there, and also ammunition. Did I mention I had forgotten to do this, too?
Wouldn't have believed it myself if I hadn't been picked up by one the other day. Made a believer out of me real fast. They're rare, I encountered mine on an extreme storm on a desert world. It freaked me out because I got lifted up into the air and couldn't move on my own. Then it just dropped me and I used my jetpack to ease my fall. I jumped in my ship and got out of there.
Currently I'm in another thread where the guy may have been killed by a tornado while he was in his ship. He was away from keyboard so he can't confirm, but if so, then hiding in your ship won't keep you safe. Not sure I like that, as caves and bases keeping you safe were already ruled out too. I always thought of my ship as a safe haven, but now I'm doubting.
Yeah, I saw that post, but since he was away for like an hour, we will never know for sure. We might have to send Mr. Bufferlow out to play with another one to confirm this
