Smite me once, shame on me..
Smite me twice, lose my inventory, shameful. As mentioned in another thread, I was killed twice by the holy vengeance of gods breath (i.e. tornado). I was picked up like a rag doll and smote against the cliff. I respawn next to my base where I can see the grave marker of my ruin only 50u distant. Hiding in the base for the storm to pass is futile as I'm smashed again standing there looking out the window. The real knee slapper is that my second grave marker is void of any inventory. So what to do next time? Menu exit asap? I'm making more frequent manual saves as a result of this.

I just reload my last save after dying in that way instead of respawning.

Other than saves, build up your life support and shields. I intentional screw around with tornadoes all the time and never get hurt bad. Part of the secret is to not try to struggle with it, just go with the flow and be ready with your jets to cushion your fall.

Ummm don't build a base on a planet with tornadoes...seems like a simple solution.

Hmm ,never seen a tornado in 250 hours of playing this game
Has anyone tried hiding out in their ship when a tornado is near? I see caves and bases aren't tornado proof. I haven't seen a tornado...yet, but I am kinda worried about encountering one in my future game play. Just thinking ahead lol.

I just got killed twice in a row today. First time, hiding in a home-made tunnel, just after drone search mode got called off -- drones and doggy were still hanging around, but I was in the tunnel because of a superheated rainstorm.

So, idiot me decides to pop off a shot at a drone outside the tunnel entrance, because I had one more to eliminate for a quest. Doggy was up above me outside the tunnel, and lazed me through the dirt. Dead.

I respawn at my ship, nearby. No idea where the tunnel was. No shields, superheated rainstorm still raging -- also three angry predators, and me with no food for them. Dead again.

"All we had to do was get in the damn starship, C.J.!!"

Spent a couple of hours getting all my elements back. Bought several stacks at the trading post, mainly oxygen, sodium, carbon, and ferrite.

NOTE: You don't lose the inventory in the expanded cargo slots -- so when you find drop pods, always get those slots, not regular ones. And keep all your essential elements in there, and also ammunition. Did I mention I had forgotten to do this, too?

Wouldn't have believed it myself if I hadn't been picked up by one the other day. Made a believer out of me real fast. They're rare, I encountered mine on an extreme storm on a desert world. It freaked me out because I got lifted up into the air and couldn't move on my own. Then it just dropped me and I used my jetpack to ease my fall. I jumped in my ship and got out of there.

Currently I'm in another thread where the guy may have been killed by a tornado while he was in his ship. He was away from keyboard so he can't confirm, but if so, then hiding in your ship won't keep you safe. Not sure I like that, as caves and bases keeping you safe were already ruled out too. I always thought of my ship as a safe haven, but now I'm doubting.

Yeah, I saw that post, but since he was away for like an hour, we will never know for sure. We might have to send Mr. Bufferlow out to play with another one to confirm this :steamhappy:

Death overwrites the last autosave. My last manual save would've reset about 1 hour of base building. My cargo capacity is maxed, so I only lost 3 or 4 spaces of materials. I'm not going to abandon my cadmium drills because of threat of death. This makes the game more interesting, so from now on I'll go there get the cadmium and not linger.
