There are also other ways to simply unlock the Normandy and other rewards by editing some files.
Presumably you'd have to stay in offline mode for the duration though, or it would set it to normal mode when it figures out it's not actually the 20th or w/e.
Worth a shot if you really want to play Expedition 2 anyway.
It took me around 6 hours on both XB1 and PS4, but that was without trying to do everything. The biggest problem was running out of fuel on PS4. It took my time on PC, at around 11 hours to do everything. Thankfully, as this is the PC version it's probably possible to edit a certain file and give yourself the Normandy, although you've missed the mission.
Are you on PC? If so I have a solution for you. If you are on console you are out of luck.
Its much easier than bothering with a save editor. Because the game wasn't originally designed for multiplayer and doesn't keep save data server side, they had to place the expedition data in a local config file to make it apply to all your saves.
If you missed the expedition rewards for 1 and/or 2:
Browse local files from the options for the game on steam. Binaries/settings. GCUSERSETTINGS.MXML Save a copy of it in case you screw something up.
Open the file with notepad or whatnot and find the correct spot in it and insert this:
<Property name="UnlockedSeasonRewards">
<Property name="UnlockedSeasonRewards" value="EXPD_FIREPACK01" />
<Property name="UnlockedSeasonRewards" value="BLD_EXPD_BASE01" />
<Property name="UnlockedSeasonRewards" value="EXPD_DECAL01" />
<Property name="UnlockedSeasonRewards" value="EXPD_TITLE02B" />
<Property name="UnlockedSeasonRewards" value="EXPD_HELMET01" />
<Property name="UnlockedSeasonRewards" value="EXPD_BACKPACK01" />
<Property name="UnlockedSeasonRewards" value="EXPD_TITLE01" />
<Property name="UnlockedSeasonRewards" value="EXPD_SHIP01" />
<Property name="UnlockedSeasonRewards" value="EXPD_BANNER01" />
<Property name="UnlockedSeasonRewards" value="MYSTERY_TRACKER" />
<Property name="UnlockedSeasonRewards" value="EXPD_DECAL02" />
<Property name="UnlockedSeasonRewards" value="EXPD_BANNER02" />
<Property name="UnlockedSeasonRewards" value="EXPD_SPEC02" />
<Property name="UnlockedSeasonRewards" value="EXPD_TITLE02A" />
</Property>
(Make sure to not double the first and last lines, they are just there for reference as to where to place this) This will unlock all the account wide rewards for the first 2 expeditions at the quicksilver shop. Also once you make sure its working correctly, always back up and save this file. If you lose the GCUSERSETTINGS.MXML because you switch computers, have to reformat, whatever, you'll lose all rewards. Make sure not to change the file type when saving.
It is nice to have an S class frigate for free on a new game, but the frigates are static and really it is not something you will ever really interact with unless you want to go troll your frigates from time to time.
