Any way to recolor ships?

Just curious. I know you can recolor your character, and freighters, but I was curious if you could do the same to ships. Or possibly your Multitool, too.

You know, I agree but, also it feels really good when you somehow find a ship that has this sickass model that you like and is somehow the correct color as well...

But I agree something as simple as coloring ships should be a thing. Hell even building ships from those pool of parts that random generation uses should be a thing to build our own ships.

That ship upgrade terminal animation at the space station really taunts me every time it splits my ship to its parts. If an animation can do that why can't I? Let me build ships dammit

I think that is the case because exocraft was added to the game at a much later date and from scratch. So they made them slightly customizable while they were designing it. Ships on the other hand were in the game since 2016 launch, and I think it has to do with the game's code and the way it generates ships.

Such a strange design decision but yeah. I don't expect this ancient technology to change now. But who knows, this game has come a huge way.

I think the only way is using the save editor.However,you can search the ship or Multitool seeds to change the surface of your equipment.

It replaces the model, the seed does contain the color. All the slots and tech you have installed will remain.

Exactly. I've done this several times. The difficulty is finding the same model in the color you want.

You can modify the ship type and color using a save editor and changing the ship seed and for that matter the multitool. See https://www.nmseeds.club/Seeds/Search for details

This. No need to even buy the ship color you want. Buy the ship type you want, or can afford, then use the Seed to get the model and color combination you want.

Just Google No Man's Sky Save Editor, made by Goatfungus. Was updated about 6 days ago. You can do stupid stuff with it, or you can restrain yourself and do some quality of life adjustments. Like when I found a sweet S class hauler, only it was soo damn ugly. I had to give it a facelift. Did the same thing for an Exotic I found crashed after the Beneath the Waves or whatever it was called mission chain. It was one of those terrible looking eggs, with no wings or anything. Looked like a mutant tadpole.
