This game is missing something
Random humanoid civilizations. And I don't mean little teddy bear people. Advanced, not so advanced, hostile, friendly or extremely primitive and in awe of us when they see us and decide we're a god and worship us. :steamhappy: After playing a few hundred hours and 130 something galaxies, seeing the same creatures over and over is getting reeeealy old. After getting 2 S class ships, a freighter, and a few A class ships I really don't see the point in continuing if I'm just going to see the same things over and over. Discovering new civilizations would be a nice surprise.

Lore-wise, there are only 3 races in all the universe, Gek, Vy'keen and Korvax.

Humanoid? Do you mean actually human or just sort of human like features (which all species have - arms, legs, torso, fingers etc...)? The lore of this game doesn't actually hint to the existence of "humans" at all, as far as I've found. Even as the character you have to choose either a helmet or an alien/anomaly like head, no "human" heads. That being said, I too would like to see more civilizations (preferably dead/mysterious) or even species though they would have to incorporate additional lore to support their existence as all lore only points to 3 intelligent species.

Edit: Though the anomaly has different looking creatures, their heads are classified in the appearance change machine as anomaly heads, so I'm not sure if the others on the anomaly station are species of the universes/galaxies we can explore or just anomalies like the character. This I don't know.

I mean, what's there is good it just needs more.

Yes, I know. And seeing the same three over and over again is getting old.

Human-like would be nice. They don't have to be exactly human. They could just be new civilizations that start popping up and are considered anomalies. Which would fit nicely into the lore of the game.

I think if you've gotten a few hundred hours out of a $60 or less purchase that game isn't really missing anything. The dozen or so massive updates that have been added now? Any other company would of made those paid dlc.

True. They have been generous with the updates lately. If they did something like this as a paid DLC I'd definitely buy it though.

I don´t think we need more different enemies. We need (more) conflict. There´s nothing to fight for/about in NMS.

After five years...if it is not in there...probably a reason for that. There are too many problems with adding a new species. Unless they were invulnerable and genderless, it would not be kid-friendly and likely create social havoc. You would be surprised how many small children play this game.

So it is not missing...intentionally not there.

I think you're over reacting just a tad bit. It's rated T (Teen). Another game I know of rated T is the Sims. It has males, females and everything in between. Oh, and every now and then a sim will die horribly in a fire or some other way. I don't see an issue.

People have been giving them ideas since before the launch. Sean kept nodding and saying yes and people have kept a massive laundry list of said ideas in check whether they be in there or not. Adding more races wont make NMS better. NMS is basic game design 101. Generic quests and repeatable habits-gameloops with poor RNG implementation. The scope of the game itself is already an impressive feat for studio who made ultra basic games from the start. You're right it is missing something, that something is true potential. The ideas are there, the implementation is just still college grad level. Not passionate veteran tier so to speak.

Funny that you only see those 3 races everywhere since at the anomaly you have a fish head guy, a few in the back room that could also be a race you can have all those travelers with different styles, I wonder why all the ships are piloted by those 3 races only and mostly by those mutant turtles

This is the comment I was looking for to confirm I don't need to reinstall. NMS is a great experience for a few hours but there is no real point to long term play.

Good idea in theory, very hard to do in practice, if you want these civs to have any history or personality. You could create random civs by picking a base character model, tech level, and demeanor, but if they are still just walking vending machines would that be any better?

Admittedly the current history/lore is minimalist but at least there is some thing there.

Funny how so many players gravitate to it and in some cases have played it for thousands of hours. Your unmet expectations are not necessarily the end all of development. Go find the game you want or make it...
