How to start story!?

Good day all,
Please I really would like some help and info.
I am new to NMS only gotten into it with the event. Okay, I really don't want to miss out on the storylines and missions. on top of the building that's what I am looking forward to.
I have only gotten the questline to open for The Atlas Path, and the expedition been to 4 (yellow seed) but its not like I am doing anything other than warping there.. not making the items, or anything else.

seen on the site it had a lot more secondary missions that I am not seeing.
Also many other questlines. will these open up or start? if I stay in my event save? I really don't want to have to start over (I really like my ship on this toon) but if its a ship over storyline then bye-bye ship ... :( also, someone put an egg and warp in my bag when I didn't know and now that storyline is started did I miss anything?

Press escape, if you're on a PC, go to log, and click on the building mission you probably have. You only need to do the atlas missions to the point where you get to the anomaly. Then you can do whatever you feel like.

I believe I'm on the third or fourth leg of the atlas mission and I haven't done anything with it for over a month.

Are you continuing on with the same save file you used for Expedition 3? I don't know what's intended to happen with saves that continue after the Expedition ends, but, for the purposes of the Expedition, it skipped the usual main storyline, the Artemis Path.

If so, you may wish to start a new "Normal" or "Survival" game. You would be starting over from the beginning, but, aside from the modified ship from the Expedition, you wouldn't be giving up much.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2626578871 These are the only quest i have gotten. been to the Anomaly and chatted with everyone asked for black hole and the other locations. i am not seeing the quest line Alone amidst the stars either. again the starbirth was from someone popping items in to my bag... grr and thanks lol

At this point you should be able to ignore the quests and do what you want to do. If you feel like building do building. Have you started a base yet?

Once the Cartographers Expedition ends in a few days time the save will become a Normal Save and should continue with story paths as expected. Until that happens the Expedition Save once completed may not follow the story path because of the mechanics in place that affect your game play and other players. Expeditions is an entirely separate game mode.
However what you do manage to discover and complete following completion of Expeditions should continue seamlessly in the Normal mode eventually.

Well obviously I've never done an expedition and don't know anything about them.

The story starts immediately if you play normal mode, but in expedition mode even if you are able to start it, it will never feel natural since it's meant as a tutorial.

You do get the star seed and remembrance for completing the main quest lines. The core health upgrade is nice.
