Malfunctioning black hole
I'm 14k light years from the center of Eissentam on my way to the center and have, for the first time in 3khrs of play, encountered a broken black hole. It appears normal, sounds normal, but I can fly right through it and come out the other side. No warp? Wtf?
I've been through hundreds of black holes and never had one not work.
I reloaded an autosave, did a complete restart and still doesn't warp.
Anyone else seen this?

I found one that did nothing when I went through it. How many blackholes does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop, No, wait.. Galaxy?

Typically about 7k light years per jump so just divide 7k

I just warped to a different system with a black hole and it is broken too.
Maybe they all are?

Do you have another save you can test with? I'm about to logoff, but tomorrow I'll test a blackhole and report back.

As you get near the center they stop working.

I don't think so. Black Holes near the center are required for Core to Core jumps which have been well documented.

Any mods? Check your game files in Steam.

I've had that happen to me a while ago. It was frustrating at first, but after a few tries with other black holes I tried going to the anomaly and asking Polo for black hole coordinates. The black hole Polo sent me to worked, and the bug stopped. Had no problems since.

The black holes send you to a random location in the current galaxy. Each black hole destination is unique and constant to the black hole you entered. The blackholesuns website [docs.google.com] has been plotting the data for each black hole so it is possible to navigate the galaxy using black holes.

Unfortunately black hole travel is not necessary now EVERY location can be reached by using photo mode for the address of any planet and using the Portals with matching glyphs.

Its a pity.

Black holes should be full of awe and wonder, terrifying to enter and mysterious holding the secret keys to travelling to far off places. Now all that mystery has gone since the Next update.

Even the wonderful Portal discovery music has gone. I looked forward to hearing it every time a new portal was located. :(

I use a trick with the blackholes, in which I've used dozens of times. Once I'm near the core, I enter a blackhole. It puts me somewhere else near the core, which might be 2-3 jumps away from the gateway system. Then, I immediately (without save/reload) transit to the next galaxy. This will deposit me within 4,000 ly of the core in the next galaxy. I'll test that today and confirm it still works.

I think I did this by accident once. I've never been able to figure out how that one time I went immediately so close to the core of the next galaxy and I haven't been able to replicate it since.

I tested that the other day and it works. I believe you just need to go through ONE black hole near the center, from then on all your Core jumps will land you near the center (as long as you don't exit the game).

Thanks! I'll give that a try!

I'm 11k light years from the center of Eissentam, and this has just happened to me, with three black holes, one after the other, after getting new co-ordinates from Polo.

Edit: 4 in a row. Tried restarting game, getting new co-ordinates etc

Edit: I warped several systems away from the last broken black hole, got new co-ordinates from Polo and the one it sent me to, worked.
