VR Controls
I've watched videos explaining this, and they often don't give all the controls, or what they say is wrong (outdated?).
I have the Oculus Quest 2, in case that matters (which it probably does?).

1. How do you run? (Girl on a YT video said hold your hands out in front of you, that is doing nothing)
2. How do you switch to the scanning mode where you scan plants, find copper deposits, etc?
3. When in scanning mode, how do you switch modes, to find gas/electricity/minerals/points of interest?
4. Is there a quick way to switch from mining/terrainM/weapons on the multitool? (It's annoying to point at a specific button on the back of the multitool, when before it was easy and quick)
5. Is there a faster way to reload? (Again, it's annoying)
6. When I double tap jetpack, it will boost me, but it never does it straight. It's always a good bit angled one way or the other, and never does what I want it to do.
7. How do I jetpack straight up? I always have forward momentum, which I didn't in non-VR.
8. How do I switch weapons while in the ship?
9. Why does my multitool keep disappearing from my hand for no reason? I was just battling sentinels, and I had my right hand extended fully away from my body, in the middle of shooting, and all of a sudden my hand was empty. Why is it even a thing to put it away? How do I keep it from going away?
10. Is there a way to rebind controls in VR? Like, I don't even know what the A and X buttons do, I haven't had them ever work in any way. I would love to rebind them, to be meaningful. I'd also love to switch the menu/jetpacks buttons, so that I can actually look around while flying (it's stupid that they put the jetpack button on the same hand as looking around). How to rebind?

11. Not a controls issue, but is there a way to reduce the lag? My multitool is pretty choppy, and the game itself kind of stutters. I have a super awesome PC now with a 3070, and I'm fine with low settings, but even with low settings I'm getting stutters and lag. Any tips?

I'm on the Rift S, so contrals are probably the same. I can't answer all of these but I can get some of them.

1. running- I usually teleport, which is actually pretty fast, so I've gotten used to it.
2. scan mode- hold the left controller next to your face and press the grip, as if you're touching a button on the side of your helmet
3. switch scan mode- right grip
4. mutlitool mode- not that I know of, yes it can be awkward
5. reload- again, not that I know of
6. sideways jetpack- I've heard other people say this is from turning your body away from the "front." Jetpack will go in the direction of your UI. (I play seated, so I don't have that problem.)
7. straight up- don't know
8. ship weapons- I usually don't bother (shrugs)
9. disappearing multitool- I've never had it disappear while holding straight out. You can make it go away by putting it over on shoulder and pressing the grip, same as bringing it out, as if you have a back holster for it.
10. rebind- I've never tried, but I think there might be a way with Steam VR? The A key works in your inventory for moving tech around and making duplicate crafting items. The X key is your pulse engine in the ship. They're not useless.
11. lag and stutters- there was a huge thread around here with a lot of graphic tips for VR users, try running a search for it. I often get stutters when loading an area and then it settles down. I'm running a budget mid range card and it's playable.

Rift CV1 here. On the recessed button on the left hand clicking that should open up steam configuration in the headset. Look for configuration and somewhere in there is the option to customize the configuration where you can see how everything is setup.

One setting that I find missing is the ability to change scanning modes on the scanner to different items like switching to scanning for underwater wrecks or alien artifacts for example. Used to have to have a keyboard handy to switch but recently it didn't work.

You can change the settings/add settings in this part of SteamVR configuration to suit your needs.
