Any way to get help or a hint to find missing plants/minerals at planets?
Hello,

well... actually I would not care much about discovering all kinds of animals, plants and especially minerals but I've been for some time on a planet and discovered so much on it just because I used to be so many hours on it that now there's only two minerals missing...
I found all the animals, even all the plants (what was some pain in the A as well because some of them were looking the same and I only found because of pure coincidence) on this very planet but not the minerals... and for them I not even get told where to look for (surface or underground or in the water (but there is no water on this planet).

The problem and main reason why I use to not care much about this kind of discovery is that usually I have a reaaaaal hard time to find all the stuff and lose patience very fast. because it is just to many and often especially for minerals they look all the same, are sometimes extremly small and for some they are very rare and extremly hidden. So most of the time I not even try...

But as I said... I only have two missing minerals here and also got a quest to finish it...
But even after many hours of extensive search I can't find those two minerals... so I wonder... is there any way to get a hint where to look for them and to narrow the search?

This is gonna to drive me crazy... but on the other hand... I have the desire to finish it and if it is just to have it done, but in the way I do it, just by analizing every freakin crap I see this will propably take decades and as I said... Im doing this for HOURS allready.

As a note, the item in the quest log that shows how many plants, animals, and minerals you have discovered is not really a quest. You get no reward for completing it (except for the animals in the discovery page), and it will not go away; it just shows your stats for whatever planet you're on.

As for finding minerals; there are different minerals in grassy areas, bare (mountains, craters, etc) areas, caves, underwater, and underwater caves. In caves, there will probably be both stalagmites and stalactites, and very rarely there will be multiples of those.

Oh I did not know it will not disappear... It showed up after some time... hmmm... so actually this is not a quest I see. Shame... so I wasted my time... well... good to know I guess thanks
Ehm... and there is no way to help with the search? For example scanner upgrades or anything? For the animals I got hints for the missing ones telling me in what place to look. I think even for the plants but for the minerals... no chance. I not even get a hint how they might look... the last one I found was a veeeery small stone I only found by coincidence as well...
And yes, I know about the different areas but I actually searched every kind of area on this planet - kinda weird... there is no water on this planet but I had less trouble on planets with water and underwater caves than I have here... *sigh
Well okay... I think I just give up on this task... when it can't really be completed it is not even worth trying I guess. Thanks

You usually have two types of terrain, normal caves, underwater, and underwater caves.

not sure but aren't mountains considered an independent terrain as well? I mean so far I had no luck with that knowledge... searched every kind of area/ terrain but no trace of the missing minerals.

but no water on this specific planet Im on... I checked every place but it still tells me I have two minerals missing 12/14 ... Im even thought about this might be glitched or something. But yeah... I will forget about that "task"

Just an idea. There is no planetary map. But maybe keep track of the region you are in (place save beacon)? I imagine that each region gets generated by it's own set of rules (ocean, hills....). Each of these rule sets comes with it's own list of minerals, cave, pants, fauna.

After that many hours you probably have the idea already of "I'm this this biom type, again."

But yes, hard task. Might just be a little rock on the ground that comes with some rare biom.

This is pure speculation on my part, but it seems some minerals generate close to another type, and sometimes they overlap. If you have a very rare, tiny mineral next that tends to generate next to a more common, much larger one, it may be near impossible to find.

Again, take this with a grain of salt, I don't say that is how it works, only that I have on occasion found one plant/mineral inside another one, only after harvesting the larger one.

yes... maybe I'll check this weird Mountains again... I actually searched all kind of terrain what this planet offers - there is no water on this planet - only caves, and some kind of mountains what seem to be like huge spikes (+50m or even higher). But so far no luck. Kinda frustrating - would be great to have some kind of scanner what tracks unknown materials.
I hate to be stuck at like 99% but it is as it is ^^
