I think it separates the player inputs. But you never want to leave anything in a refiner when you're not going to be nearby anyway. They have a habit of making things vanish if you leave the chunk.
No they can steal from you. Unless you're in a community hub or Expeditions area it is unlikely another player will ever notice your base.
If you want to remove an uploaded base from the HG server, you do it this way, you simply upload another base you have on the same 'planet', the second one removes the first, because you can only have one uploaded on the server.
So go a bit away from your base, place a new BC, place some walls etc, so it gets ten parts, upload it to the server, and after you do this your first base is now deleted on the server, you can then delete the temporary base you created.
Regarding theft or damage to the base from others, set your network settings so that only you can make any changes to the base buildings.
Are we certain about this? People keep repeating this but it could be wrong information that keeps spreading - the game could have changed as well with the new patches. Turning off multiplayer does something but are we certain it prevents other people from editing your base? It might be necessary to turn off base editing as well.
