What is ReShade and how do I make it go away?
I installed NMS and the game has a bar on the top that says ReShade is installed correctly then it says something about how it outdated and to install a new version. I don't know what it is because I didn't download any shaders or mods. And the tab won't go way ever during game-play. There is an X button on the tab but my mouse is locked to the center of the screen and I can't click out of it.

I add reshade presets to all my games. Makes them look a lot better and sharper. I recommend it. At least it worked for you though because ReShade won't even load for me in NMS.

Reshade doesn't just appear on a PC, go to your installed programs and uninstall it. It's that simple.

Yeah, I know. Where did it come from though? I bought the game, went to Steam Library, clicked install, waited for the game to download, double clicked the application, the game launches with a reshade window that won't go away. I checked my game directory, the only mention of sharers I can find is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\GAMEDATA\SHADERCACHE. But this folder is empty.

Only developers can make a game look a "lot better" and not some silly Reshade. You claim to use Reshade on all you games, sorry... but then you need to see a doctor.

You have no idea what Reshade is, do you?

And to Otter: You've installed Reshade, at one point, as others have said, uninstall it, or go to its options and disable NMS, or whatever. It doesn't 'just install' with NMS.

Ok, where are these options then?

Forget settings inside No Man's Sky. Instead, from Windows desktop, click search and type UNINSTALL. Click APPS & FEATURES. In the search bar there, search "RESHADE", or just scroll down your list of apps until you find Reshade in the list. Then uninstall it.

I just checked my Control Panel. There is no mention of any ReShade program in there

I also looked in the uninstall thing, the word reshade never appears.

Is there a way to show screenshots in Steam Discussions. I can show you that there is no reshade program installed. Is it under another name by any chance?

Go to the game folder and delete the d3d9.dll

when you installed ReShade, you added the option to automatically apply to all Vulkan games, load up the ReShade program and disable that option so you wont get it applying to every vulkan game you have
Otter Apr 2, 2021 @ 11:53am
What is the direct path to that file? I looked in my /Steam/steamapps/common/No Man's Sky and searched for d3d9 and no files shows up

My dude...I never installed ReShade. I literally just bought the game and downloaded it. ReShade doesn't appear anywhere in my programs. Hell, give me a link to the ReShade program and I'll install it and tell it to not apply it to any game
