How do i crossplay (XBOX One - Windows 7 PC)
Trying to play with a friend. I have the glorious Windows 7 on my PC (Steam) and he has XBOX One.

Both of us have multiplayer enabled. If we go to the "Anomoly" we see other people. I tried to host a game and add his XBOX tag. But i can´t find him. He has "XBOX Live". Do i need "Gamerpass" or something? Is this feature only availible for windows 10 players?

As for Xbox Player, their must make sure to have a setup in their account/gamertag in order to play multiplayer.
WIN 7 needs at least TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 as default secure protocols in WinHTTP in Windows..

Sometimes you need to sync your PC Clock : Follow the 3 Steps :

Normally if you both did exchange your Friends Code and you create a Session , other players should be able to join..

Thanks for the info. And that is another thing....The Code. I can see it when i start a new session. But How do we "exchange codes"? Where does he enter my code? Is there some guide i can follow?

You can display your friends code ... and than you need to tell this code your friend (and vice versa)

That is really odd neither him on XBOX One nor i on my Windows 7 PC have been able to put a friends code. Do i need to add him as a friend before i can put in the code?

Oh wait? When i select "Add Friend" is it the other players CODE i should enter...not his game tag?

Thanks ALOT for your help. Last night i was able to join his game. Now he (XBOX One) is trying to join my game. But he can´t.

If i start a "Hosted session" and then he wait until eveyting is loaded on my side. And he enters "multiplayer". Available Sessions" does NOT show my name. So he tap the button "Add No Man´s Sky Friend" button and enters my code. Then he see a message saying something like "jcode already added". But he can´t do anything. Why can´t he join my game?

Should i choose multiplayer or single player when i first start the game?

Do you have a dedicated IPv4 address?
You will not be able to host if your ISP is using either CGNAT or Dual Stack Lite. The reason is that No Man's Sky uses peer-to-peer for Multiplayer. It needs port forwards that the game setups automatically. Because in a CGNAT or Dual Stack Lite setting which is a setting in which your IPv4 address is not unique, those port forwardings cannot be set.

Steam mitigates this by spanning VPN-like connections through their cloud using TURN (Steam Networking), but this is not cross-platform compatible.

Using Win10 you can use the XBOX App to check your NAT type. If it's strict, then this is usually because of a CGNAT or Dual Stack Lite connection. You will not be able to host in this case unless you can request a dedicated IPv4 address either for free or a fee.

@jcode
If you choose at the loading screen Multiplayer and create a session and you dont get that message "No Matchmaking Service.." your settings are ok. Your Friend should see your session. I have no Idea why your friend does not see your session.

Maybe you need to sync your PC-Clock ?

I am on Windows 7 (for a couple of reasons). How do i check my NAT settings? I checked my router and NAT is "Enabled". Also i think i am on a ip4 adress.

We could play when I joined him in his game. And it worked pretty good except for some strange pixelated textures espacially on my suit and ship.

that can be solved by unchecking that Steam Pre-Shader Cache

Another way to check the type of NAT is by opening the command line (Press winkey+R, then enter cmd) and enter tracert -d -4 google.com

The first hop is always your router.

If the second or subsequent hop is one of the following:
10.*.*.*
100.64.*.*
172.(16-31).*.*
192.168.*.*

It's cgnat/DS Lite and hosting is not possible.

If the second or subsequent hops time out, the ISP hides it's Infrastructure. It's possible it is cgnat/ds Lite then.

If your router can display the WAN address and it's one of the listed above, it's cgnat/ds lite

Ok, thanks will try that....does my friend who is not on steam also have to disable Shader Pre-Chaching? He also complained about stuff pixelated...but he is on XBOX One.
