Living Ship

So, getting well in to this game now. I thought 'lets get a living ship'.

Turns out that aint easy, as apparently I need quick silver which makes this very difficult.

Is there an easy way to get this quest line started or is there an easy way for a solo player to get their hands on a load of quick silver?

quicksilver missions is probably the fastest way... There is one daily mission worth 250QS and weekly one worth I believe 1200QS. Apart from that you could look for a stellar ice space anomaly that very often gives QS... Also if you're lucky you can actually get the Void Egg in the Nexus, just ask around while in the Anomaly, there is always someone who would be happy to share some eggs...

For me Living Ship was a wasted time. I did it but will never repeat that again in any new save. Those ships are not even that good, limited slots, limited technology. Maybe in the future HG will come back to it and improve it but for now my LS sits in the freighter and gathers dust...

I play this game in Single player mode. The Nexus Offers Quicksilver Mission most of the time, and many of them pay out 450 ish. The Egg, I believe, is 3,200...?

If you reach that point, simply turn to the Atlas Quest to finish getting any Glyph's you do not yet have. You get ONE With each Atlas Jump.

If you really want one go for it but I would say 3 or 4 out of 5 players aren't using their living ship because of various reasons. On the other hand "some" are using them as their every day ship for everything.
Is it worth it in the end of this what seems to be a "OMG screw this sh**" and leave quest my two bits is... no it ain't worth it but it's your game your time

is there an easy way to "end game content" ? yes, but it ruins your gaming experience and lowers the "worth" of your achievements.

with that being said, watch out for the weekend quicksilver missions. they give 1200 qicksilver and can be done solo no problem.

IMO the living ship quest was a fun change of pace. I did two and got lucky, the second has some good color to it. The first was mostly white and dull in color. Due to the limitations, primarily no scanning capability, I don't use it much. One other disadvantage of the LS, is there is no way to get rid of it. I had to use the save editor to delete one of my LS to free up a spot for other ships. Currently my LS is just hogging up a spot in my freighter.

It takes up one of the 6 ship slots AND you can never remove it? That's a show stopper.

Well, you can't scrap it but you can exchange it for a different ship...

The ship isn't worth the effort, BUT I did find some neat planets along the way and expanded my empire. It's not all bad as long as you don't make the ship itself your central focus for doing it. If I could login right now, I'd hook you up with an egg. I have quicksilver to spare and wouldn't mind getting you started. Just remember, it's the journey that counts, not the reward.

:-D - that is exactly why I did, it. Loved the design (..hated the grind..), and finally U handed me here, the proper description for it. I just had to have it in my collection, and now it has a new name:

"..psychedelic cabbage.."

With the hyphens and dots, even, Love it!!

.. soo right. And everything everybody else says is right, also. Severly limited cargo space after all upgrades in place. Not that great stats or rideability.

There will come a point in the game in which your main save has pretty much done everything that can be done. So the LS quest line can be something else you can do at that point. Don't discount it too quickly.

You can edit your save file to add as much quicsliver as you want . It has been a while since I played, can you max out living ships yet? It was not worth it to fly them for me as I lose out on all the upgrades and space from a normal ship.

Derelict Freighters can yield Void Eggs now.

I got one this morning, and I was very surprised. Of course, derelict freighters are very random in their "theme" but I found one that had a void/water theme with lots of biological horror-related treasures, and not only did I find a void egg, but I also found the thing you get by donating eyes to underwater ruins.

However, before/while you're doing the derelicts.... if you're doing a normal playthrough, you will want to progress to the main story quest called "16" (it's down the Apollo/Artemis line).

This quest gives you the portal glyphs you will need at the end of the living ship quest.

If you're on Expedition, a full set of portal glyphs is given to you if you go through a black hole.
