Hello Everyone,
First of all, thanks so much to everyone who has already spent time playing No Man's Sky and letting us know about any issues you've experienced.

Steam users are able to opt-in to the Experimental Branch, where we have pushed a patch to address some problems. We'll be rolling out these fixes to other platforms as soon as possible.

To play in Experimental, right-click on No Man's Sky from the Steam library page and select "Properties". Among the available tabs will be the "BETAS" tab. Enter "3xperimental" in the textbox and press "CHECK CODE", then select it from the dropdown menu.

The patch notes are as follows:

Experimental Branch Update 06/04
  • Fixed a crash related to network synchronisation of starships.

Experimental Branch 05/04
  • Fixed a PlayStation 5 specific HDR issue.
  • Fixed a visual glitch in the starship cockpit map.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the glow on the star representing the final phase of the Expedition to be overly orange.
  • Fixed a number of UI issues that could occur when every milestone in an Expedition was complete.
  • Fixed an issue that required players to gain an S-Class Multi-Tool to unlock the 'Light Show' milestone, instead of an A-Class Multi-Tool.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Explorer-class starships to change appearance.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the music to be clipped at the start of an expedition.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Power Inverter switches to malfunction.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the glowing grass found on some lush planets from glowing.
  • Fixed a rare PS5 specific crash that could occur during load.
  • Fixed a terrain generation crash on next-generation consoles.
  • Fixed a rare crash that could occur when loading the game.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a specific Multi-Tool broken slot to require an inordinate number of Ion Batteries to repair.
  • Fixed a softlock that could occur when interacting with an NPC on the space station.
  • Fixed a crash related to creature navigation.
  • Fixed a number of memory-related crashes on Xbox One X.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur while interacting with an NPC that had been network desynced.
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent the reward for Phase 5 of the expedition being claimed when completing the expedition a second time on a new save.
  • Fixed a multiplayer-related crash in the animation system.
  • Fixed a PC-specific issue that could cause hitching while loading shaders.

As always, thank you to all players who use Experimental and take the time to report any issues you encounter.

Please note there is the possibility that experimental builds may introduce new issues that haven't been caught in test. We'd like to recommend that all players back up their save files, by making a local copy of the st_[userid] folder found here: %appdata%\HelloGames\NMS\

Note that we don't anticipate any issues here. However, performing your own backups could mean the difference between resuming play immediately, or waiting for the next patch.

If you decide to opt out of experimental and return to the main branch, we strongly recommend resuming from a backed-up save from the main branch, rather than taking an experimental branch save back to main, which may cause unexpected behaviour.

Feedback and reports of new bugs/issues being found on Experimental are welcome, so please reply to this thread or submit a ticket to https://hellogames.zendesk.com/ with the phrase "Steam Experimental" in the ticket title. If you are running any mods for the game, please list them along with your bug report.

In VR I am now the height of a GEK. No matter how many time I re center before starting the game and during.

I am stuck in a seated position. When I stand up from my chair, everything is at the height it should be and when I sit down in my chair, The grass is almost at head level and when sitting in the ship it is normal.

It is probably something stupid that i am overlooking but just in case i posted it here

This patch did NOT fix the 'unavailable offline/attempting to connect' bug.
I STILL cannot access Expeditions.
(yes im online, yes troubleshooting steps have been taken)

game freeze when i take day 4 drops hauler ship, after last 1.9G patch(not expedition save)

I wonder if at some point the sound boxes will be fixed as well....
When reloading, they just don't keep their preset sound.
You could combine them so well with the bytebeat boxes...
But I think, I'm only dreming...

Still cant start expeditions. Now stuck on attempting to connect as opposed to the unavailable offline. I've joined friends, troubleshot and everything. Figures the one thing I wanted to do that brought me back is the one thing I can't access -.-

Yeah, "we optimized CPU usage for terrain generation" -- now I watch my ryzen 3600 freeze when approaching planets which didn't happen before.

Crash at logo still unresolved since september

Crash: I loaded the new PC Exp patched game (after backing up save, of course) and loaded an older, Normal mode save to check if my Explorer there reverted to looking as it should, as told in the patch notes (it does, thanks). I quit to desktop and then reloaded the game and chose my one Expeditions save. In the starfield during load, the game froze and I windows asked, and I let it kill it after a while. FYI.

Win 10 Pro 64, i7-6700K, 32GB RAM, GTX-1080Ti

UPDATE/NOTE: Worth mentioning that Steam was also frozen when NMS was killed by Windows. Maybe Steam froze first? I just tried again and got into my Expeditions save fine, FYI.

Have you changed the transponder code acceptation list ? It's the first time I see my ship not "auto land" on a space dock. The tracktor beams did not take my ship in, and I knocked on the hull of the station. My insurance company will not pay for the damages... ;-)
Edit: I just tried a few times and still the same. I noted though that the dock seems full. There must be a party at the station. Olbury XVI, that's the place to be. But you'll have to park your spaceship outside.

Just bought the game yesterday, Running a Razer Blade 15 2018 edition. Nvidia GTX 1060 Max-Q, Intel i7-8750H, 16GB Ram. Game crashes on startup. It shows the Hello Games logo and then quit to desktop. Already tried updating my driver, using experimental branch, disabling overlays and running as administrator. Can't get it to run even after restarts. I even set NVIDIA Control Panel to use the GPU with the program, still no cigar. I replied to the last experimental thread and still it is not fixed. Please send help! :)
