Missing Base Item: Save Point
With Expeditions, I have 'lost' the ability to construct a Save Point item at my base.

I have looked everywhere for the blueprint (aka the Anomaly) without success. Does anybody else have this item, and if so, where did you get it?

Same. I noticed that as soon as I played. I usually have one on my freighter as the easiest way to save before turning the game off.

If we can't have save points, I hope we'll be able to build save beacons on our freighters.

I thought maybe it was just me, because the technology tree in the Anomaly is cut off on either side for me.

This is what I mean about the technology tree being cut off. Not sure if I'm missing things on the side. I've tried changing my resolution and no matter what size I make it, it's still cut off.

The portable save point was a reward for the computer base mission in the normal game tutorials and does not show up in the anomaly technology tree. the technology tree is complete and though the boxes on either side are partly cut off, the tree is complete. By moving your cursor back and forth over the tree you can shift the image from side to side slightly. Perhaps if you check what the rewards are in each phase of the expedition mode it might be given as a reward. I haven't started my expedition save yet so I can not verify the possibility of this reward for you. It seems the save beacon is your best bet.

That is me moving my cursor right to the edge, the boxes are still cut off and it's not possible to tell if any other items are left or right. Thank you for confirming that I'm seeing the whole tree, though :)

And, the save beacon cannot be placed on a freighter, so it looks like the only save is jumping in and out of a ship.

Well: Not only is my vision/visor not broken (I have the 'truncated' Tech Tree display at the Anomaly too), but the Save Point item really IS MIA.

I feel better.

Until I have a need to save my progress.

you can unlock it in the catalogue, though. it is under constructed technology and costs 2 salvage

After completing 5000 hours on my first and only save in NMS yesterday, I started a new expedition save today. Yesterday I posted the following thread of a glitch I found that still applies here but I could not confirm because I already had the save point blueprint in my normal save:

The first thing I did when I started my new expedition save was to see if the same glitch applied to the save point and it does. It did not cost me anything in research, I did not need salvage modules. I just pinned the recipe in the construction tab, went back to my build menu and it was there. I was immediately able to build one once i got the Di hydrogen jelly and metal plates made.

Thanks, chipmonk! This works perfectly and definitely makes this mode better for me.

I don't understand - what do quicksilver decorative items have to do with the Save Point object?

use the same process, just substitute Save Point for quicksilver decorative items

It works with most of the constructed items . I I carried my save point with me while in the areas that other players have overpopulated at the start and could not place a save beacon. It is a glitch and probably not intended by HG so I would not be surprised if one of the patches fixes it at some point.

Chipmonk, you're a genius! Just click on the item in your catalogue, and you're off to the races.

inside freighter, save beacons don't come up as a build choice for me under portable build items... which is the reason i was trying to find a save point

a thought... my freighter is always near a system station out in space, away from any planet, would that have an effect?

Same, I've never been able to build a save beacon on a freighter. It has never showed up in the build menu. I can't even place a save beacon that's already in my backpack.

I prefer save beacons on-planet because you can colour code them. That's not necessary for a freighter, so I'm happy with the save point there.

And no, I don't think proximity to a space station has anything to do with it, I regularly summon my freighter above my head on-planet and still haven't been able to place a save beacon inside.

In the latest experiment patch, it is not possible to do that anymore, unfortunately.

Fixed a number of issues that allowed players to pin inappropriate recipes in the catalog.

Hi,

In my previous gameplay I was able to build the "save pod" in my freighter, but when playing "expedition", I was surprised it was not possible anymore, but after looking at the recipe, you can ask to display the materials you need to build it. When you have them into your inventory, you can build it inside your freighter, I think it's just a bug.

I was not allowed to drop the one displayed in the screenshot above, the save beacon, not available in the building menu, but only on a planet.
