So... how do I give the space station cartographer information on waypoint towers?
I'm all done with the "Patterns in time" mission, but now when I go to a cartographer and "Ask for help", they always point to their waypoint towers on the map and request information about them. Well, I've explored one system to death and have about 30 waypoints logged. How do I give this information to the cartographer? I can't find any option to move past that. Or is this one of those things you never can accomplish? I'm just mostly wondering what is supposed to happen once you've satisfied the cartographer's demand for information. What "help" do they provide when you're past the PIT mission?

Okay, I haven't done main quests in a while, could you remind me if this is a part of the "Artemus" quest chain? If so, you need to open the galaxy map and find the system that they want you to go to. If it is the quest I am thinking of, you talk to the station cartographer (no way point finding required). If it isn't the one I am thinking of, then I apologize for my post.

Thanks for your reply. No, this isn't part of the Artemis thing - for that, you needed to talk to one of each of the 3 species' cartographers and do missions for them until they tell you their history. This is just in free-explore mode. I go to a cartographer and pick the option, "Ask for help", just like with the Artemis quest, but all he does is point to his map and the waypoint towers, "suggesting he needs information on those". In one system, I have at least 10 waypoints on all 5 worlds completed and uploaded to the server, but the cartographer there continues to point to his maps. Maybe if you get all the waypoints, he does something special? I dunno'. But I appreciate you're trying to help just the same. :-)

Sounds like it just the generic, buy a map=see the world. There is no special ending, just spend nav data.

The maps are a waste of time IMO. I find what I need just as easily by just flying around a planet. The maps are also notorious for sending you back to the same locations time after time...which is not very helpful.

Yeah, that, I've noticed! They're good for the first 2 or 3 times, then pretty much useless. Though you can take 'em to new systems to use. They seem to work anywhere.

It never even occurred to me that's what the little "Ask for help" response was referring to. But it makes complete sense! It's kind of a pointless option to pick, then. XD Thanks for the clarification. I understand, now!

Yeah, I expect it was intended as a hint for what the cartographer wants and where to get it, rather than a separate thing the cartographer can do.
