PATTERNS IN TIME cannot FIND A VY'KEEN CARTOGRAPHER

when i attempt to advance this quest by going to the cartographer stall on a vy'keen space station i get nothing. standard text choices. tried them all anyway. got nothing. same as any other cartographer. assuming this meant i had to find a vy'keen cartographer NOT in the cartographer stall i went about looking for vy'keen listing their profession as cartographer. finding none i started talking to every vy'keen i could find. Still nothing. giving up and reading guides, because it sweems there are massive amounts of undocumented stuff in this game, i found claims the vy'keen cartographer i want is actually in the stall(?) but that the quest commonly bugs (omg they produce a special thing so people can ride butterflies but bugs in the main quest get ignored?!) and the quest can be reset by selecting the quest and hitting the middle mouse button. This does nothing. I dohnt know what to do.

trying to figure out if theres something preventing me from doing this I have not bought ALL the items in the the buildables thing though i have bought the majority. probably over 200 points worth. looking ag standing im milestones, my rank is ajuctant i have to get 18(?) more points to make commander. other vy'keen milestoned are lower. is it that i cant get the guy to talk to me until theyre maxed?

You have to go to a particular system and speak to the cartographer on the space station there. The system will be marked on your galaxy map. Just make sure it's your active quest and you should have a big red marker there. Even the route will be highlighted for you. If that is not the case, you might be too far away from the destination in which case you can reset the quest as you described and the game will choose a new system closer to you.

In that "Find a Gek/Korvax/Vy'keen Cartograpger" missions, the cartographer the game wants you to find is set, you cannot go to any cartographer you want in a random space station like you can do in "Find an Overseer/Armourer/etc for your base. Make sure you are speaking to the cartographer the game selected for you.

Select the mission from your log, open your Galaxy Map, check which star system the game sends you, and then warp to that system. The cartographer the mission wants you to speak to should be on that system's space station. When you first speak to him, he will ask you to do something and then he will speak to you again.

As far as I know, milestones shouldn't be a thing for that mission. I think milestones only matter for Atlas Path questline and maybe one mission from Artemis questline if I remember correctly.

You said you did it but you can try going to another place in a galaxy far from your current one and restart the mission with middle mouse button. But again, the game selects a cartographer for you, you can't go to any cartographer you want.

that marker seems to be on a gek system. theres only one vy'een on the station and he seems to want to be a vehicle tech, of which i already have one. even finished that questline i thought. Should i hire him just to get him out of the way?

i cant move from galaxy to galaxy yet as i havent been able to collect any glyphs despite being shown the portal and even finding one other one seperately. i can move from star to star with some limitations but not galaxy to galaxy

They never mentioned going to another galaxy. They said go far away from your current mission and try to reset it.
But before you do that, when you go to the space station it indicates with the quest selected, you should see a marker in the station. Did you check the back rooms?

Got it figured out. the target system was very close and behind my main system so it looked like the marker was IN my main system. alos while i had visited the system i had not visited the space station there. it doesnt see to show up 100% of the time so it may have been that or i may have just missed it
