I just lost 100h backup
There is nothing more in my backups, my folders "saveX.hg" and "mf_saveX.hg" are empty. I don't understand what happened. I had already sent tickets to hello games because I had other quest bugs but they never respond ... I have no restore point and not possible to switch the nms file to a previous version.

What is the point of playing if I encounter bugs all the time and hellogames never respond to resolve the issues?

Luckily I did a copy-paste before this problem 1 month ago of my saves but I still lost 100 hours of play ...
I posted on reddit too but no solution so I come here.

The saves are in your pc, so there is nothing Hello Games can do for you.
And no, just HG takes note of the reports and they will fix them or not, that's up to them.

Sorry this happened to you :( If you have SteM cloud sync enabled, I recommend turning it off.

I’m curious what other games do you play where you get personalized support?

The problem is with them and not with me. It is up to them to solve this problem. This is not the first time that I have encountered bugs in the game that penalize me, quests that no longer work, expedition bug forced to redo everything, 4 hours lost, ...

Sorry this happened to you :( If you have SteM cloud sync enabled, I recommend turning it off.

I have bugs in other games but they don't destroy my saves or prevent me from doing a main quest that no longer works.
I am not the only one who has had problems with the backups, this is a big bug and it seems that the problem is not fixed.
Personalized assistance or not, you are offering a product on the market, make sure that there are no big backup problems that cost your customers hundreds of hours of play. What's the point of playing if you lose everything?

HG and NMS does not destroy saves either, Steam DOES.... If you copied and moved the saves then it's on you to take care of those files you manipulated.

This is not true, there were save bugs for some people due to the frigate missions. I didn't do anything, I got into the game and I had nothing left, it's that simple. Whether the problem comes from HG or Steam it's not my fault, let's not reverse the roles, I lost 100 hours of play because there was a bug either at HG or at Steam.

If you're on windows and this happened recently- the file isnt really gone, you just cant see it. There's about 50 dozen different file recovery programs/apps out there- paid or free, your mileage may vary, test a few

The save system is crap. One autosave and one manual save. They've never fixed it and some of the first complaints about the game were that it corrupted or lost save files. I've still got backed up saves from 2016, since the first thing I learned was to make frequent backups. They should lay off improving the graphics for awhile and fix the save system. I have a feeling that it's a limitation of the game engine and can't be fixed.

There's nothing wrong with the saves.
With all the information out there about save editing, anyone can try to do it and screw up something, then come here saying the game broke the save. Or other things with local human factor on them.

Are you using Steam Cloud? Or someone else who gets on your PC? That's usually the culprit, which is fully an issue caused by Valves crappy Cloud Save.

The save file hasn't disappeared, but its content yes, the save file no longer contains any data.

I had to make a backup copy 1 month ago, because I had another bug with expedition where I had lost 4h-5h of play ... Otherwise nothing more, I have not touched the backups, no mod, nothing. The problem is not mine.

I think that's it (steam cloud), but there were some backup issues with HG, maybe it's them. I'm waiting for a possible answer.

I'm skeptical of the scenario. While I don't deny that others have experienced bugs that have effected game play and/or save data, there is a high potential of information being left from the description of events.
While highly anecdotal, I have never lost a save or save data; and I have Steam cloud backup enabled. I have also never used the save editor tool or tried to edit any of the files to favor a play through.

What is a game than a big time sink? Start again. You can get from the beginning of the game to all bag slots open, all glyph's learned, S-class everything, and be at the center of the galaxy in less than 10 hours of play.

Never occurred to me a save file got corrupted, however I know through a save file experiment that if I, for instance, have a safe file and its manifest "save7.hg" and "mf_safe7.hg" respectively, back it up to a different folder, it will not get corrupted unless you rename the file. Renaming both files to "save.hg" and "mf_save.hg", and transferring it to the game's default save file (let's say there is no current save having the same name), will corrupt it. When you are at the screen where you are selecting your save to play the time counter indicating how much you spent on that save has been overwritten, and running that save will erase all your efforts, putting you back to the beginning. So you shall not rename your save files, unless you remember their old names.

I was talking about my games, I never had this problem. Yes there are worse and there will always be worse, it's not really an argument.

I know HG make fixes and I love nms, unfortunately this kind of big bug doesn't make me want to play nms anymore because it's not the only bug I had.
I wish HG had at least given me an answer as to where they think the problem is coming from. But nothing.
