Um DLSS on a 1060???
Hi,

I just got an error saying that DLSS could not start due to an outdated driver when I tried to run No Man’s Sky. I ignored the error and the game ran - so meh.

Thing is I have a 6gb GTX1060 and run in 1080p so is it even worth getting a new 'dlss' driver when as far as I can tell dlss is for rtx and 4k ? I’d rather not fix something that’s not broken (least not very) as my last driver update caused a black screen and many headaches trying to roll back (no idea what went wrong there).

Thanks in advance.

AFAIK you don't need 4K, but it is designed for it. Otherwise you do need a RTX GPU to use it, since it is hardware side.

Update your driver.

While the game errs, it won't stop the message until you update.

I'd just ignore the message since your GTX does not support DLSS regardless of driver version (only RTX cards support this). If the game is working well on your current driver version, why temp fate by updating needlessly :)

There is a rumor of an OPEN DLSS driver package possibly coming for 10 series cards.

Saw it on JaysTwoCents.

But like others have stated the error message will persist until you update. Probably the game asking about DLSS support and the drive going "WHAAAAT!!!".

I have a gtx 1660 after this last update my fps tanked I get a constant message in console telling me dlls cannot be activated it just keeps trying and it is killing my fps . I had to revert my driver back to get it to stop but i get this error message too . just ignore it .

Nobody mentioned anything about that here... Couldnt be more offtopic as the dude has a gtx1060 which doesnt even support dlss. Just gonna asume u misread what card he had

That's odd, I have GTX 1060 6gb i7 running 1080p with driver 512.95. Never seen that message. I don't see a newer driver at their site either.

DLSS is only for RTX cards. So 2060 and up. Your 1060 is incapable of DLSS.

Not to mention OP

I'm simply saying these statements are false.
If you re-read this necro'd thread then you may realize that the only person that mentioned ray tracing was you. Nobody else brought it up, let alone claim that it was for 4k displays. This thread is all about DLSS.

As I said in my year old comment, there is no need for a 4K display when using an RTX card. From my understanding the purpose of DLSS is to render each frame at a lower resolution then with hardware/software upscale with the intent to achieve a smooth frame rate at a higher resolution while maintaining a crisp picture. Please feel free to correct me if you think I am wrong, since my info is a year old. ;)

ErnurWolf stop necroing threads
youll only force the mods to lock the thread:steamfacepalm:

Bruh wtf are u smoking, dlss was definitely made for 4k, u gonna use a rtx3060 at 1080p with dlss on?Dont make me laugh. Gtx cannot do dlss so its you thats wrong here

Since you apparently do not understand the concept of DLSS: It is NOT specifically made for 4K - but does have its obvious advantages at these resolutions. I am using it on my 2560x1440 for flatscreen titles and it works wonders on my RTX 2060. Also using DLSS in VR for some titles. Amazing jump in performance.

1440p is a thing you know??? high refresh max settings are a thing you know??? No, DLSS was not "made for" 4k. You're literally making crap up. GTX can't do DLSS? uh, I know? where did I say otherwise? I said RTX is not
just for 4k. I didn't say anything about RTX features working with a GTX card. That's two things you're just making up to suit you. Make you laugh?? I thought the other guy was strange, this is funny.

And what are you on about? You go AMD to have bugs and performance issues ( never fails) worse ray tracing and no DLSS? Ya go team red! woooh!
woooooooooooooooooh!

lol amd is trash, at least i agree with sad skeletor on that. they got terriblly unstable drivers on windows 10. they need linux just to get proper opengl support for emulation (and games that still support opengl, u can google all about it. )
