Is there a way to store companions and I just haven't found it?

Someone told me we could store our companions somewhere and I haven't found anything. If not, is fine. Just though I would ask.

You can summon and dismiss (unsummon) them from the companions submenu of the quick menu.
But store? Not that I'm aware of.

At best, you can store their eggs. Provided you can remember who's who, that should allow you to "store" them.
EDIT: I'm assuming you mean "store" companions beyond the 6 slots you have access to by default.

Companions are saved automatically once you adopt them and you access them via the quickmenu. IIRC you can have up to 6 of them.

Yes they are. You can buy more companion slots with nanites (up to six)

There is a program/app over at nexusmods called
NMS Collections Backup Restore and Sharing Tool (below is a bit of the description)

'Lightweight app that lets you back up locations, bases, companions, star ships, multitools and freighters (along with custom thumbnail), share with others and import back into any save at any time! More to come...'

it's constantly being updated with features and is compatable with the frontiers update

Even this is limited. You can only have 4 (I think) eggs in storage (including storage containers). Once you reach this limit your companions won't lay eggs. I discovered this when I got the twitch reward eggs.

It's a shame really because at end game, there isn't all that much I want to do except collecting creatures and ships.
